Best sulfate-free shampoo I've tried
I'm very picky about shampoo. I can't tolerate sodium lauryl sulfate, which has kept me from using most herbal essences shampoos. I do like the scents and the packaging though so I tried this sulfate free one and it's really good. Gets the product out of my hair, lathers well (don't use too much!), and rinses clean. A good choice for when I want to wash my fine curly hair but don't need to use a clarifying or dandruff shampoo. If you have fine hair and an oily scalp you might like this. If you have a very dry or sensitive scalp it might be too strong of a cleanser.

Not for fine/oily hair
This is one of the worst shampoos I have ever used. I’ve been searching for a good shampoo that will help with my fine/wavy hair and oily scalp. I’ve used this twice now and it will be going into the garbage can. It leaves a very waxy film on my hands and hair after using it that won’t come out no matter how much I rinse. I also noticed my hair looks great for a few hours and then looks like I haven’t washed it in days shortly after. My scalp felt more clogged than clean. I would not recommend this product to people with fine/thin hair, nor would I recommend it to anyone who wants to feel like that have a clean scalp.

It may help to know that what you've described is typically associated with not using the correct version for your hair type, and/or your hair not being conditioned enough. It may help to try a richer conditioner, using a conditioning treatment 2 or 3 times a week leaving the conditioner on your hair for up to 5 minutes, and/or using more conditioner on the ends of your hair. You may also consider trying a leave in conditioner instead of one you rinse out to lock in more moisture. In regards to not getting the volume you expected, this could potentially be due to the dryness you described, and/or not using the correct styling products for your hair. If you'd like more volume than the shampoo and conditioner have to offer, you may consider giving our volumizing hair spray or mousse a try for better results!
