Q: I have blonde highlights, is this safe to use on colored hair?

A: Hi. We get this question a lot, and we're always so happy to answer YES it's totally safe for colored hair. Our salon-quality formulas avoid the color stripping ingredients you might have experienced elsewhere (like sulfates) so you can simply choose the HiBAR that's best for your underlying hair type.

Q: I've never seen a solid conditioner before. How does this work?

A: Great question! Liquid conditioners are more than 80% water. But, you already have water in your shower, right? So, we formulated a conditioner using everything you'd find in a high-end conditioner EXCEPT that water. To use, you get your hair really wet, then run the conditioner bar through your hair, paying special attention to your mids and ends. Sometimes, it helps to rub the bar in your palms to get a little juice going! It won't 'flood' your hair like a liquid conditioner, but you'll feel a nice gentle slip between your fingers and your hair - that will tell you it's getting spread to where it needs to be. Let the conditioner sit for a few minutes, then rinse. And you're done! Without any plastic!

A: Thanks for asking. It's a simple, fresh citrusy scent derived from an essential oil blend of lime peel, orange peel, lemon peel, grapefruit peel, and ginger root. The fragrance is strongest when the bar first comes out of the pack, but dissipates quickly.

Q: How well do these lather? shampoo compared to conditioner... ?

A: Hi. Thanks for asking. The shampoo bars lather really well. After all, they're just salon-quality shampoo ingredients without the added water. Simply get your hair really wet, then either apply the bar directly to your hair, or, if you prefer, you can work up a bit of a lather between your palms. Then massage the lather into your hair, paying special attention to your roots and your scalp. That's it! (And of course, the conditioner doesn't lather... more of a nice gentle coating that works best with minutes of soaking.)

I bought this conditioner to replace a bottled keratin conditioner. I prefer this product. As my hair grays, it is turning wavy. This bar adds moisture and softness to keep my hair texture, straight, and soft. I rinse with cool water for the best effect. I’ve tried other shampoo/conditioner bars, and this one is great.

I enjoy using solid conditioner bars. I prefer to purchase locally from a shop that makes them, but sometimes I can't make it there in time before it closes and don't want to make a special trip to purchase a bar, so I have tried this brand before. the unscented version was what I got last time, and I like how it works. This time I thought the "moisturizing" version was different from "fragrance free," but I realized after I purchased it that they're both actually "moisturizing." I'm not a fan of the "fragrance" of this stuff. It smells like a urinal cake. Luckily the scent is not so strong that you smell it on your hair after you shower (I hope.) On the upside, it does make your hair soft, it lasts quite a while, and it is easy to use. I will remember to purchase the fragrance free version in the future!

Very moisturizing, lots of slip for my kinky hair. And bc of the way you have to apply, it’s easy to apply most of it to the ends where it belongs. Took a star off bc although my hair is moisturized, I have to worry about fairy knots from rubbing the bar on my ends.

Did nothing. I felt like i had to rub this on each hair, i have long, wavy, basic white girl hair. Usually use l’ange or ogx but wanted to try a less plastic approach. Light scent is about the only positive. Used this with the coordinating shampoo and left my hair limp, dull and also somehow frizzy. Wanted to save plastic, ended up wasting money.

I have fine, thick, mostly straight hair, and this is the first conditioner bar I've used. The lather takes some getting used to, but I'm pretty impressed for a bar conditioner. It's lasting me a very long time compared to my shampoo bar (same brand); I've been using this conditioner for several months, and I don't think I'm even halfway through--and I tend to be heavy-handed. My hair does feel soft after I rinse it out, which is nice for a bar, and it is shiny when it dries, but I also use a leave-in conditioner. Overall, I do really like this conditioner bar, especially since I don't have to worry about the hassle of rinsing and recycling a plastic container when I'm done. My hair looks and feels great, so I see no reason for me to switch to anything else.

This conditioner bar takes getting used to, but it works great and my hair feels very conditioned once I comb it through. I use it with the shampoo bar. I love the fragrance, love the fact that I don’t use that much. I feel like my hair stays cleaner longer than with other shampoo and conditioners.

I use this with the matching shampoo bar. The citrusy scent is light in the shower, and does not linger once rinsed out. This conditioner bar seems to last a long time and keeps my 2B/2C hair soft and relatively defined without other products/styling. The ergonomic shape, however, prevents it from fitting into a standard soap holder for travel. You'd have to cut a piece off or put the bar into a (reusable) plastic bag.

This is my new favorite conditioner! I was skeptical at first because it isn’t as thick in your hair as liquid conditioner and you have to work it in a bit more but am a fan. My hair is softer, shinier and I don’t have the guilt about using another plastic product.

Not one bit of plastic involved!! Was easier to use than I expected, and my super long and thick hair is doing very well with it. As many others mention, it doesn't smell great out of the box, but is not bad once rubbed in hair. Wish there was like a moisturizing coconut variety.

I have tried shampoo bars in the past but never even heard of conditioner bars. I try to follow the Curly Girl Method so I was very excited when I found out that not only is the bar environmental friendly (1 bar replaces a 16 oz plastic bottle) but it is also Curly Girl Method friendly. Due to its shape (thicker and rounded on the bottom) it is easy to grasp the bar and hold onto it while applying the product. Unlike other “soap bars”, this bar has a more waxy feel and does not get slippery when wet. I have really long hair and had somewhat of a hard time applying the product to my hair. I ended up collecting all of my hair in one hand and rubbed the conditioner bar onto my hair with the other hand. It might be easier to apply if you have shorter hair. Since the conditioner is “colorless” and does not “lather” when combined with water, I also had a hard time telling if I used to little or too much of the conditioner. I like the citrusy and slightly gingery scent of the conditioner bar which (if you are worried about it) does not linger around once the conditioner is rinsed out of your hair. The conditioner is definitely very moisturizing and left my hair hydrated and super shiny shiny. It is also very lightweight and does not weigh my hair down which is nice since it adds volume to my hair, especially near the roots. I wish it come with a storage pouch or a little tray to “store” the bar.
