As you can see by the photos, this is definitely wider than a typical ironing board. It is heavy but sturdy. The only thing I don’t like is that the metal piece is a wide mesh versus having more metal surface area to retain heat from the ironing board. I will probably end up buying an ironing board cover that can help the heat move from the iron down through the clothes to the board. If you are not comfortable lifting something that weighs almost 20 pounds I do not suggest getting this. If you have someone who can help you get it to where you need to be and set it up and forget it then I would suggest getting this. I got it because I needed something wider because my husband and I are both very tall people and I wanted the iron holder and clothes rack integrated with the board. It is cheaper than some of the other large ironing boards I found that had not so great customer reviews. So for the price I rated it high even though it is heavy.
