Not the best. Bought this for my daughter for Christmas and it’s just not it. It’s still hard for her to pedal which seems to be a lot of what others are saying in reviews. This is her first bike and it’s such a disappointment. She absolutely loves spidey and friends. But unfortunately she doesn’t like the way it pedals and I don’t blame her. It also keeps making a clicking sound too when she pedals it. Gonna try to make the best of it though but when it’s time for a new bike we will definitely be buying a different brand. It also smells horrible. Straight up plastic and the smell still won’t go away after wiping it down.

Complicated Instructions

Instructions were overwhelming as they had instructions for other models and the illustrations were not clear enough. I would simply them by only having instructions for the specific model in box and have bigger illustrations or actual pictures of the model.also the plastic cover on the stem for handlebars was extremely hard to take off.Still giving it a 5/5 stars for the quality of bike.

Box arrived damaged, with missing nuts that keep the front wheel on. So the front wheel can’t be attached to the bike. It’s a useless heap of metal now, and Christmas is ruined. Thanks, Target!

I purchased this as the main gift for my 4 year old for Christmas. The night before Christmas, I tried for hours but couldn’t assemble it. I bought another bike for his sister (different brand) that took less than 10 mins to assemble. The handlebars on this bike will not lock into the bike. I search YouTube for videos, nothing. It’s like there is a part missing. I’m returning it.

You will need to take apart the front fork and the pedal assembly to apply general purpose ball bearing grease to the "ball bearings" for those parts of the bicycle due to insufficient lubricant/grease on the ball bearing surfaces from the manafacturer for those areas. After reading the reviews on the Target site, half saying good things and half saying bad. I decided I'd take a chance on a Huffy bike as they used to be good bicycles. I opened mine up, decently wrapped and protected. The front fork was "movable", but not the smoothest, nor did the pedal crank arm “turn” as easily as I would expect a bicycle pedal assembly to do so. Everything seemed to be “binding” a little which usually means no grease or missing/bad ball bearings. Leveraging my youth and having to work/fix my bicycle from time to time, I took the front fork apart and was very disappointed at what I saw. There should be a roller bearing or cased ball bearing in both the top and bottom sections of the fork. What I found was a crummy form of a “ball bearing” assembly and, in my opinion as an engineer, a very poor quality (see attached pictures) design. Also, there was very little, if any lubricant on the “bearing”. There appeared to be some light coat of “something” which was of a cooking oil consistency, clear and thin, definitely not lithium grease either. As I rolled the ball bearing in this “assembly” in my hand I could feel the ball bearings “rubbing” on the bearing housing, not a good sign and probably the source of the negative reviews’ where folks said the turning of the handle bars was difficult. So, I got my wheel bearing grease out of the garage and repacked the "bearings" filling grease in every area I could and then lined the upper and lower bearing races with grease as well (see attached). I put the bearing assemblies back in their upper and lower fork locations and put the front fork assemble back together. Now it moved very smoothly. For the pedal assembly. I removed the plastic chain guard. I loosened the rear tire to allow slack on the bicycle chain so I could remove the chain from the pedal crank arm sprocket. After removing the retaining nut on one side of the pedal crank assembly I was able to remove the crank arm from the bike frame. I found the same thing with respect to the two bearings housed in the frame of the bicycle for the pedal crank arm. The bearings were of low quality, same “design” as the fork bearings and absolutely very little to no lubricant (see attached). I repacked these bearings with my general-purpose bearing grease and applied plenty of grease once installed back in the bearing race and bearing face. I put the pedal crank arm assembly back together, insuring not to over tighten the assembly retaining nut as doing so will clamp down on the "bearings" causing the pedal assembly not to be able to turn. You will need to have some small, and I mean small, amount of looseness in this assembly to allow the ball bearings to have freedom of movement to roll around in the bearing race. Once back together the pedal assembly moved very smoothly and I “felt” no resistance with respect to ball bearing binding. The actual bike pedals do feel like cheap plastic (not the dense black plastic of days gone by) and time will tell if they break or not. If so, the pedal interface on the pedal crank arm appears to be a standard pedal thread size, so replacements at a bike shop should do fine if needed. I didn’t look at taking the wheel hubs apart and looking at those bearings. If needed, I will do that later. Hope this was helpful and there is some validity to the negative/low reviews as to why folks are seeing issues with the front fork and pedals. ROOT CAUSE: Insufficient lubricant/grease on the ball bearing surfaces for those areas. Huffy should definitely employ some better quality control on their overseas manufacturing processes for this (and probably other products) ….
