IMUSA Small Bamboo Mortar and Pestle

The inside of the bowl is rough, which makes it a little harder the clean. The inner sides are also at 90° angles, so bits of the paste/herbs get stuck there.

Sometimes I just need a smaller one to smash garlic, I feel the other ones are too big. It fits perfectly in the cabinets. The bamboo is easy to wash as well.

I like to use it for hand grinding small spices, making a home made blend of seasonings, getting the extra flavor out of it by crushing the spices, or just regular herbs. It may take a little bit longer doing it by hand in the m&p but its worth it. The product is easy to use, it has worked well with everything I've used in it and I look forward to more mixes and blends i can mash up in this! All in all, I am a fan and pleased with the mortar and pestle!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Well first I doo want to say it is bigger than I thought, for a small size this seems to be a pretty nice size , I cured it first with rice and then garlic and oil , wiped it then I smashed plantains and seasonings , that's all I've done so far but it was so easy to use and even cleaned it with just dawn dish soap and it was easy to clean.

I use this to crush up herbs to make them fine and powdery, and it does a fine job of doing that. It's easy to clean and easy to use. It would be nice if the pestle and interior of the mortar were rounded, but it still works fine. The size is nice for crushing up herbs.

It is the perfect size, is made with quality materials, and is easy to clean. I use it daily to mash my garlic and other spices while cooking. The flavor I am able to get is only rivaled by my Abuelita's cooking, but I am quickly catching up. Love using this to make authentic Puerto Rican dishes that remind me of home. Definitely recommend!

The product stood well and didn't tip or anything while in use like other ones I've used previously either so that was great.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I evaluated the Mortar and Pestle with a number of spices. Cilantro, Parsley, Dried Chili Peppers and Basil. The product worked best with the dried Chili Peppers. The Peppers were crushed evenly and surprisingly smaller than expected. When using the product with the Cilantro and Parsley it enhanced the flavor of the spices. The spices became more aromatic than if I just chopped the spices. When using the product with the Basil it had ordinary results, The product wasn't too effective in grinding the Basil leaves, it still enhanced the aroma of the Basil. After using the product, the cleanup was easy and the scent of the spice in the Mortar did not stay. That was an initial concern. The product is attractive and designed well. The Pestle is shaped perfectly to grind in every area of the Mortar. I would say the only negative is the packaging. The packaging is simple and was torn when I received it. I could also see that it wouldn't present well in a retail environment. It would most likely get torn when maneuvering on a shelf. I feel that it should be packaged in a box.I feel that the quality is there but the packaging will definitely slow sales.

I like the small size because it's perfect for grinding up herbs and spices, or even pills. The bottom is flat so it allows for even pressure during use. I found it easy to clean by hand with soap and water but would not put in the dishwasher. I would buy a larger size for other kitchen projects.

Now to the functionality - I used it to grind garlic and it did so with a limited amount of pressure. However, given that it is Bamboo and thus lightweight, it kept moving more than expected ,so it had to be constantly held with one hand. Due to the light weight, the pressure applied in a normal mortar and pestle also needs to be toned down. Maybe having a gripping bottom would help one issue. Does the job, but only for lightweight grinding. Received this in exchange for my honest review.

The design is small and easy to store and the bamboo is smooth. I use it mainly to crush pills and supplements for my dog and so far it is easy to use and I've had no issues.
