Description
Cole and Mason's Granite Mortar & Pestle is not only attractive but also hard wearing and will stand the test of time. Made completely of durable granite, this mortar and pestle is heavy, balanced and can withstand the pounding and grinding necessary to extract the most flavor out of herbs and spices. And since granite is non-porous, spices and oils will not be absorbed into the stone so they obtain their true flavor and strength. The choice of herbs and spices available today brings bold new flavors and colors into the kitchen. To help food lovers get the most from these ingredients, Cole and Mason offers a wide range of herb and spice items. Cole & Mason, part of the DKB Group, has been designing and developing kitchenware from its head office in England for almost a century. Q: What’s best way to season it?
A: When you first get your set, you might notice some loose grit particles. To prevent these from ending up in your food, you can place a small handful of white rice in the mortar, add a tablespoon of water, and grind the mixture into a paste. Work the rice paste around every inner surface of the mortar. Rinse and repeat a few times until there is no longer any loose debris.
