Book Synopsis
Your brother needs a new kidney. You're a perfect match. Would you do it?
Cherie Hollister struggles to raise her three daughters alone after her husband's tragic death. Now her mother is begging her to be tested as a potential kidney donor for her brother, making Cherie confront the pain of their past. Her faith tells her to forgive but every maternal instinct in her body rails against forgiving the man whose negligence has left her 8-year-old daughter scarred for life.
Will Finnegan is a chief resident in the Emergency Room. Intrigued by the beautiful but prickly young mother, whose daughter is brought in by ambulance, Will finds he can't stop thinking about her.
He meets her again at a fundraiser for the Burn Center. She questions him about the safety of transplant surgery and Will wants to help her make the most important decision of her life.
As Will navigates his growing feelings for the young widow, Cherie struggles to make the right choice for her family. Can Cherie find it in her heart to forgive her brother and save his life?

The writing details and descriptions totally allowed me to be there in the story and I was captivated from the first few lines. This beautiful story of love, forgiveness, acceptance, hope and letting go, helped me to realize that forgiveness is a journey and does not always come in the ways that you think it will. It reminded me that forgiveness is a choice and it is something we are always working on and striving to accept. In This Lifetime was truly a gift to read.-Erin Ranft, Director of Religious Education, Church of Christ the King
