Great read

5 out of 5 stars

Into the starlight There are several thing I look for while reading a book and "Into the Starlight" by Amanda Cabot has then all! The first thing is the book has to draw me in before the end of the first chapter. "Into the Starlight did that. The storyline was great through the whole book. It captivated my mind with every line and with every twist and turn. Next in my list of great things is the characters. I look for well written characters! You can't go wrong with the characters in this book. You will fall in love with Joanna Vaughn, who is a strong woman. Joanna moves back home after the lost of her husband. She left home to try to become a great concert pianist. It was harder than she thought, but at least she tried. She got sick and married her husband, whom died shortly. Her story was great and you will see her weakness and her strong spirit. Then there Dr. Burke Finley. Burke comes to Sweetwater Crossing with the woman who at one time was engaged to his uncle. They never marry because he disappeared. Della wanted to find out what happens to him and see the beautiful home he was building for her. The last thing is loving the book enough to give it a high rating. I read all kinds of books but I do not give it a five out of five if these thing I like in a book aren't there. " Into the Starlight " was a great book and I highly recommend reading it. I received this complimentary advanced copy from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are mine and mine alone.

This book was amazing! The author did so well with introducing that hometown feel, but then also delving into the aspect of change and learning to cope with and even embrace the differences that separate our past from the present and, subsequently, our future. I really appreciated the depth that Ms. Cabot put into her characters, along with their introspection and conversation. They were not shallow, but had many layers to their thoughts and feelings. I fell in love with the real camaraderie between Burke and Joanna and the openness between them. It was a breath of fresh air from the misunderstandings that commonly arise from a lack of communication between couples, due to an unwillingness or thoughtlessness to relate something to one another, in other books. Our hero and heroine were very aware of their need for honesty and were careful to ensure that the other truly understood what they were trying to convey. It made for a very sweet and satisfying romance! The subtle bits of unresolved history throughout added a nice touch of mystery and conflict to the story, giving the characters a goal to band together over and allowing a satisfactory means of introducing the reader to an intriguing cast of characters along the way. And that ending! Talk about going out with a bang! My lips are sealed, for spoiler purposes, but suffice it to say that this book needs to be consumed, even if only for that final-chapter turn of events! I loved the ups and downs of the narrative, the ins and outs of the characters’ lives and thoughts and the traces of mystery, as well as the well-thought-out circumstances and back stories. Fantastic book! The author clearly has a talent for a good plot!

Upon returning home to Sweetwater Crossing, many changes had happened to Joanna, including becoming a widow. The last book of the series does not disappoint and the changes there makes her feel that it is no longer home. Della and Burke Finley arrive in hopes of finding what really happened to Della's almost husband. This book is the conclusion of this interesting series. It has just the right amount of mystery to make the book very interesting to the reader. It's a good book and a good fit for the previous two books. A very worthwhile read! I received an ARC from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

CHANGING LIFE'S DREAMS

“You’d lose your chance to follow your dream, and I’d feel guilty about being the reason for that,” Joanna explains in Amanda Cabot’s novel, Into the Starlight. ~ What ~ The third book in the Secrets of Sweetwater Crossing series, this three-hundred-and-forty-three-page paperback targets those interested in a historical romance involving family relationships in the Texas Hill Country. With no profanity, topics of illness, injuries, and death may not be appropriate for immature readers. While the beginning has a map of the small town, the ending includes an author’s letter, a teaser for a book in another series by the writer, acknowledgments, the author’s biography, and advertisements. In this story set in 1883 in a small Texan town, the middle of three sisters returns to Sweetwater Crossing from Europe after recovering from a serious illness and becoming a widow. While staying at the Finley House, she no longer feels it is a part of her new life, especially when she meets Doctor Burke Finley, who is related to the man who built her large childhood home. As the two try to uncover what happened to Burke’s uncle, they must learn that their plans do not always work out as they try to follow their dreams. ~ Why ~ Being the final story of the lives of the three Vaughn sisters, the story completes how each sister matures and finds what is important in each of their lives as they deal with their pasts and change the expectations of their dreams. I liked the interaction between Joanne and Burke and how they relied in and confided in each other. Adding the intrigue of Clive’s past was interesting and pivotal to the story. ~ Why Not ~ Those who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ might not like the Bible verses, prayers, sermons, and reliance on the Almighty, but they were not overwhelming. Some may not care for Joanne’s indecisiveness in making decisions or the self-inflicted guilt of not forgiving oneself. I did not like the mention of praying for dead people. ~ Wish ~ I prefer all pronouns of God capitalized for reverence. ~ Want ~ If you like a historical romance series that encompasses two people who are crushed by their past as they learn to alter their goals and dreams, this tale ties family bonds together with love and compassion for others as life’s plans change. Thanks to Revell and Interviews & Reviews for this complimentary book. I am under no obligation to give a positive review.

What a wonderful conclusion to the Secrets of Sweetwater Crossing series and what secrets they are. As the secrets unfold you will be shocked and engrossed, turning pages quickly to find out the why. What ingenious writing as Joannas story unfolds and Dr Burke and Della arrive in town. I love the Vaughn family and watching these sisters grow and find love, so I was excited to see Joanna have her story and what a journey to happiness it is. A family of faith that has faced tragedies and remained faithful to God are inspiring and the writing style has you feeling like you are a part of the town. Although this can be read as a stand-alone I recommend reading the entire series as you won’t want to miss anything about this family and the secrets each book uncovers. I am sad to leave Sweetwater Crossing but I will carry it with me for a long time. Highly recommend historical fiction at its best. I received a complimentary copy from the author/publisher. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
