This new formula has caused body acne breakouts for me and also it smells terrible. It leaves a waxy residue on my skin and the lovely iconic scent is gone and now it smells like when you're scrubbing a pan with steel wool.

My family has used ivory bar soap for 50 years! The original! It is the best! We always feel clean after, no chemicals or harsh fragrances! Love ivory products

The new Ivory bar soap is terrible. Ivory obviously decided to go woke and destroy a great product, just like Bud-Light and Cracker Barrel. Shame on you. You deserve to go out of business.

I just got a new package of Ivory and was surprised that it smells different, is not a pure white color anymore, and doesn't clean as well as it used to. I hope Ivory can go back to its previous formulation.

Why oh why did you change the formula? New soap doesn’t lather, doesn’t float, smells horrible, is irritating to the skin…I mean are you trying to kill this soap off and make it so people don’t buy it so you can justify discontinuing it? This is a disgusting corporate move. Bring back a tallow based product which we knew and loved for decades being back original Ivory soap!!! You ought to be ashamed for making such horrible changes and still marketing it as the old stuff. This is a new and terrible soap!!!

Disappointed that this soap now smells so strong it is unusable for me. It was my go-to for a long time due to its simple formula and light smell. I appreciate the change to non-animal based ingredients, but I think it is too caustic to use. The heavy scent actually irritates my throat. Donating what I have left.

I have used Ivory soap for almost 30 years and this new formula has my skin all broken out, so obviously l will not be buying Ivory anymore, and it doesn't smell like anything.

Does not get you clean anymore the palm kernel oil stays on your skin and makes you feel greasy. You ruined something that was simple and pure for what?

Never in my life have I voluntarily written an online product review. The change in formula is unwelcome and unnecessary. It smacks of P&G worrying about sales and hiring some fancy marketing ppl who told them to change Ivory to be closer to what every other soap is. I don't see how losing the loyal Ivory soap users (of which there seem to be many) in hopes of attracting new clients is a very good long-term solution. After 20+ years of only using Ivory, I will be moving on. Will be back in an instant if P&G come to their senses and go back to old formula. I worry this change is just the last gasps of a dying product.

I've been using ivory barsoap for over 60 years and have always bought multi packs. They last me for years. I just recently bought a new multi pack and am very disappointed in this new, NOT original bar soap. It has a waxy smell, leaves my skin not "squeaky clean" but dry and gets used up much faster than ever before. Please refrain from posting to me the repeated reply to long standing loyal customers bringing our legitimate observations of your new product. Your repeated reply is nothing more than a marketing department crafted explanation pointing out that your product is as good as ever and we are all incorrect in our experience. You've lost another customer that will be happy to return if and when you put the actual original soap back on store shelves. Was "new" coke not a lesson learned? Why, just why, the Soap feels weirdly greasy and I don't feel as clean using it. Please go back to whatever the old formula was.

I would give this a "0" if available. This is NOT the Original Ivory. The new formula is awful. I've used this product for many years due to allergic reactions to other bath soaps. Now I'm having the same problems with this "new" formula. The redness and itching are intolerable. The scent is stomach turning. The soap doesn't rinse off as easily. Glad I have a few slivers of the REAL Original left. As a 50+ year customer, I will no longer purchase this product.

Never thought you’d mess with something people have relied on for years but here we are. This new soap formulation is highly irritating to my skin causing it to be very itchy and irritated and I will need to now find something else to use. Very disappointed in this recent change that was unnecessary. I’d pay more for the old formulation if you’d go back to it. Now forced to find something different to use.

If I could, I would give the new plant based formulation of Ivory no stars. It is misleading to call this bar original. P&G claims they are trusted but they certainly are not trusted by me any longer. I have been using the original bar since I was a child and I am now 50. My skin is sensitive and any other product would make it dry and itchy. Now, I have that problem with this new formula of Ivory bar soap. It’s terrible. It doesn’t lather, it smells terrible and makes my skin dry and itchy. I am extremely disappointed. Why would you change a perfectly tried and true product after all these years? This is a huge mistake, Proctor & Gamble. I unfortunately cannot buy this soap any longer. If you change it back to the formula with tallow, I will gladly use it again. Please fix your mistake. Coca Cola did in the 80s. You can, too. It’s so sad you would change this soap to a sub standard product for all your loyal customers.

I don't get the hate for this. I have used Ivory since I was a kid in the 90s and, to me, it still smells the same and lathers the same. I've experienced no skin irritation. The only differences I notice is a slightly smaller size, and it doesn't float anymore. Love the soap and will continue using it.

I started using Ivory almost thirty years ago when my skin needed a soap without stuff. I kept using it because I liked a soap that was only soap. Back then, the economy pack was twelve five-ounce bars that lasted me almost six months. First, the bars went down to three-ounce. Then, the pack went down to ten bars. Prices and sizes change for all goods; I get that. I could live with that. But now that I just replenished my supply, I find that the soap is no longer soap. The bars are shiny and they smell. Just like the scented and moisturized bars that I stopped using. I shower, so I never tested the 'floating'. But I'm not surprised to see reviews that they no longer do that since the shiny scented bars I used to use didn't either. The bars that I may as well and will go back to.

Like many other reviewers, I have been an Ivory bar soap user for several decades. In the last several months, I have noticed that Ivory soap seems to have changed. The new bars come gooey and hard to remove from the wrapper because they are stuck to it. I thought maybe the soap had been heated in a warehouse somewhere. But there are other differences. The new bars have a slick plasticky sheen to them. They also have a strange smell. But the real problem is that I now have itchy skin after using the Ivory soap bars. I tend to be sensitive, especially to certain perfumes and that is one reason I have always loved Ivory. After several months of tru=ying to figure out if I was just imagining these observations, I decided to research it. And, low and behold, you HAVE changed the formula! But you still market it as Classic Ivory Gentle Bar Soap! This is false advertisement. The new version may be fine for some people, and it must be cheaper for you to make, but it is NOT as good as the real original, let alone better! This is P&G's "New Coke" moment! At least it is for me. I am looking for a new brand of soap that is really what Ivory used to be, or at least as close as I can find. I wish you would respond with, here's where you can buy our REAL Classic Ivory bar soap, but I know you won't. This is either a cost savings for you that you haven't passed on to the customer and therefore didn't warn your loyal customers or it is a nod to "woke" ideology and the ridiculous movement away from animal products which have been used to make soap for centuries. But whatever it is, it is a FAILURE so far as I am concerned.

I am 78 years old and have used Ivory soap for at least 50 of those years. My wife recently "gifted" me with some new age soap that she had heard about. Four bars of the stuff. I hated it but used it anyway just to make her happy and to get rid of it. I returned to Ivory - - - and am severely disappointed. It IS NOT the original soap. It smells different. It does not float. It wears away much faster. It even lathers up differently. I will not be purchasing Ivory any longer. In fact, I am contemplating tossing what I have left in the trash.
