A: Technically not antibacterial. Though, the US FDA found 0 evidence of antibacterial soaps better at preventing illness than plain soap and water. Antibac soap can actually be worse long term.

Q: Does this Ivory have ANY kind of fragrance? Long ago, it came that way, but it's harder and harder to find any unscented or fragrance-free beauty products.

A: Our Ivory Gentle Bar Soap Original has the original scent. In the beauty care industry, we use two specific terms to help consumers find the right products to use, unscented and fragrance-free. Unscented products may contain a light scent to mask the natural odor of the ingredients in the formula. These ingredients do not have a pleasant smell, which is why it's necessary to add a very small amount of light fragrance to make the product more enjoyable to use. Fragrance-free products do not contain any added fragrance.

Q: The ten bar package I have at home shows 4X MORE/PLUS in the upper left. But in the store I saw a pack of fewer bars with 2.5X and another, I think with 3 or 3.5 X. Explain this on the package!

A: For our Ivory Original Bar Soap 10pk we offer 3.17 ox bars and 4.0 oz bars. The package that states 4X MORE are our 4.0 oz bars.

You changed the formula. Best part was that it floated in the bathtub in case it fell in, and i could find it, now i can't. The smell is different, and if it's made in Colombia, why? We need the jobs here. Please go back to the same formula and stop with the greed Ivory. Don't the CEO's have enough money? Start paying US employees better wages. Become human once again, not greedy for the sake of a bigger house, boat, airplane. Come on!

30 years using the same excellent soap. Then you go and pull a "New Coke" on your customers. This is unacceptable. While the new version isn't bad, it's not as good as the old. Here's your solution: Relaunch "Original" as the old animal-based version. Add a NEW plant-based soap and market it as such. You have a market that will be happy to use a plant-based version and a loyal customer base that wants the original back. Your marketing seems proud of 140 years of the same product, but you are now lying to your customers.

I've been using the unscented soap for years and loved it. The first time I tried the new "original scent" version I got itchy rashes on my arms. Tossed the remaining bars. Please bring back the unscented formulation. And anyone know a good substitute for the old unscented bars?

Ivory has changed their formula and the new soap is horrible. Even though the package says original, it is not the original. It dries my skin out, doesn't have the wonderful ivory scent, and doesn't even float. I guess I'll try caress bars?

I recently wasted my money on a 4-pack of Ivory, assuming it was the same Ivory I grew up with. It is not. it is a different formula, and furthermore. does not float! Having a bar of soap that rises to the top of the water is very important to many of us who take baths, and you just took that away from us thinking we wouldn't notice? And you thought we wouldn't also do our research and discover that you changed the formula? Nice move, and another customer you have lost.

I have used nothing but Ivory bar soap on my face for 50+ years. Used your "new" soap last week for the first time. Within a matter of days my face turned dry, itchy, skin peeling and so irritated that tiny blisters appeared. A week later I'm still trying to reverse the damage. After all these years, why P & G felt the need to change such a trusted product is beyond me. You have lost a loyal customer and based on other reviews I'm not the only one. If I could have rated this product with NO stars if I would have!

We bought this because we missed the pure & light scent soap from long ago. Bought some & as soon as we unwrapped a bar, we knew it wasn’t the same. It’s a smaller size, weighs more, & smells stronger than it used to. My husband also noticed that it didn’t float anymore. No more microwave experiments for our daughter. It doesn’t have the same (or even similar) results. We are not impressed & will not be buying this soap anymore.

We have purposely purchased your soap for over a decade for its gentle touch on our infants & little ones & for the fact it floats! Mom mustn’t swim to find the bar. Our campers can still safely rely on your original floating recipe when they absolutely must, & the best part…. When allergies are rampant, your soap soothingly cleans, but if one quality changed…. I've been using Ivory Soap my whole adult life, and I just switched to Dove. Ivory not only doesn't float, it's a completely different soap - this yucky little cake that has absolutely nothing to recommend it. Why you would destroy one of the most successful examples of branding ever, and completely change one of the most successful products ever, I have no idea. Whoever did this is completely bone-headed.

An ivory soap user for 50+ years. The new formula isn’t very good, and my most recent 10 pack had brown mold on 6 of the bars, both on the packaging, and on parts of the bars. Threw them out.
