A: Technically not antibacterial. Though, the US FDA found 0 evidence of antibacterial soaps better at preventing illness than plain soap and water. Antibac soap can actually be worse long term.

Q: Does this Ivory have ANY kind of fragrance? Long ago, it came that way, but it's harder and harder to find any unscented or fragrance-free beauty products.

A: Our Ivory Gentle Bar Soap Original has the original scent. In the beauty care industry, we use two specific terms to help consumers find the right products to use, unscented and fragrance-free. Unscented products may contain a light scent to mask the natural odor of the ingredients in the formula. These ingredients do not have a pleasant smell, which is why it's necessary to add a very small amount of light fragrance to make the product more enjoyable to use. Fragrance-free products do not contain any added fragrance.

Q: The ten bar package I have at home shows 4X MORE/PLUS in the upper left. But in the store I saw a pack of fewer bars with 2.5X and another, I think with 3 or 3.5 X. Explain this on the package!

Great soap! Been using it for over fifty years. The improvements they made to it are very good. Now it doesn't dry out your hands. Cleans just as well. Now people can use it all year round instead of having to buy expensive moisturizing liquid soap in the winter months.

i have used ivory soap most of my life. i'm now 59. i always loved it and bought it in bulk so i'd be sure to have some on hand. recently, i started itching profusely. i hadn't changed anything else. i've been using the same products for washing dishes, doing the laundry, and for moisturizing. no new products. none. no food changes and no lifestyle changes. ...i looked on your page because i noticed that the bar looked and smelled different. i saw that many others are having the same issues and that you changed the ingredients you are using. why? how many people have to give you honest feedback before you go back to the original formula? why did you change it to begin with? it was a wonderful product. ...i am going to a dermatologist tomorrow because the itching is so severe. i have broken skin now all over my body. this will cost me lots of money, for this appointment and any necessary remedies; and, what am i to do with the ivory i've bought? i wouldn't give it to anyone to use given the reaction i, and others, have had. please rectify this situation asap. be honest. be kind. make the necessary changes. please.

Very sad at the change, as Ivory has been my choice of soap for over 30 years because of its gentle lather and nice mild scent. However the new formula gave me a horrible itchy rash, that became inflamed when I scratched. I lost nights of sleep until I realized it was the soap causing the issue and discontinued using it. I hope you return to the old formula, would even be willing to pay more.

I thought my water softener was on the fritz - turns out the new formula does not rinse as clean, dissolves rapidly and leaves a film on my glasses too. I have used Ivory 40 years - bring back the old formula. Will be looking for my receipts to return the bars in my storage closet.

I've been a purchaser and user of Ivory soap for decades. It was easy, buy the original. No smell not extra crap. Then I made a purchase this week and find out "original" is only original since 2024. Really? This bar smells and doesn't have the same feel or consistency. Shame on you Ivory Soap and P&G.

I absolutely HATE the new soap. The change they made to not "whip" it during manufacture causes it to not float. Ok minor, but now they added chemicals and the soap is not the dry cake-like consistency, but a shiny lump of plastic. Please do not call it :"original", it is far from it. You just lost a household that has been using and loving you product for almost 80 years.

PG has altered the formula removing the tallow for plant based alternative, and it is now unpleasant on my skin and causes an irritating reaction. it also no longer floats and smells weird. WHY would you change a formula that has worked for years?! how about just make a new separate line and keep the original and let the sales speak for themselves. I am voting with my wallet and won't buy Ivory ever again if they don't bring back the original. the famous bar of soap my family and millions of others have used for over 100 years will no doubt quickly fade away, look at these reviews , you think this is a good change? Did you think we're too stupid to notice? Personal Health products are the most intimately known products to consumers in the market. They're not a bag a chips you can change the recipe and have no one notice. millions of people opened up their favorite bar of soap and had a negative reaction on their body. You want to make an exciting new product with different ingredients ? Great, go make that in a different line. I'd love to see the Ivory revenue line numbers over the next few years.

I thought I was buying the original soap that has been America's tried and true soap for decades. I was terribly disappointed to find (during my bath) that it wasn't the same. The bar didn't float! I knew something was amiss and had to research it for myself. The formula has changed! WHY??? Why would you do that? Why would you mess with something that people have known and used for GENERATIONS? The purity (99.44% pure), the smell, the floating soap. I'm so disappointed. I'll not be buying tour soap until you go back to the original formula.

The new formula is terrible. I used the old bars to track my chemistry about what is different in ivory soap compared to others. They would always be amazed and super into the lesson. The new bar doesn’t do anything that the old did…so disappointing. Will not purchase ivory going forward unless they bring the old formula back.

THEY CHANGED THE SOAP. DO NOT BUY. I finally found a soap that didn't make my skin itch and you changed it? Actually, you ruined it. The thing that made Ivory soap "Ivory soap" was the fact that it used tallow and it was whipped at the factory. It doesn't even float anymore. Wasn't the original marketing "the soap that floats"? I take baths all the time, and now I have to go back to searching around for the soap before it melts at the bottom of the tub. Change it back.

Not good, the smell.is different, the ingredients are not the same. It does NOT float!! Why did you change this? There are so few old items left in this world that worked just as they were and this was one of them. I have excezma and i now cannot use this as it causes extreme dryness and itchness. My kids also complained of it making them itchy. This used to be famous for its "pure"ingredients and the fact that it floated. Now it is going to be known for selling out and being useless. Good going....
