Like all of the wild bird food at Kaytee, Kaytee Basic Blend is crafted out of a love for birds and a passion for the hobby. One of the most popular blends in North America, this reliable mix is designed to be the economical choice for wild bird feeders new and old alike. This blend features high sunflower seed content which is a favorite of birds and is packed with protein, fat and fiber as well as vitamins A and D3. A: Out here in the Texas Hill Country, I get Inca & White Wing Doves, Lesser & American Goldfinches, Carolina Chickadees, Titmouses, House Finches, Northern Cardinals and Chipping Sparrows, thru the year. There is something for everyone in this bag and nothing goes to waste, other that the shells.

I’ve been purchasing wild seed for my backyard birds who love it and seem to like to have food available close by. They have a ball. They make a mess, waste seed, but that’s what little wild birds do. Been around domestic birds growing up. Love to be able to provide food for our wildlife.

Wild Bird Food is Messy
This seed mix leaves a lot of detritus behind. Of the choices at Target, I tried this one. I am not pleased with how much the birds leave behind. However, I was desperate to feed the poor things in the worst of January. The birds, and squirrels, seemed happy to be fed, however. I will use this 20# bag, and then search for another blend.

Not the best, but it will do.
This seed has a lot of millet. I feed mourning doves and local birds. There isn't much sunflower seeds. But, this seed is the only reasonable seed available in price and most birds do eat some of it. The shipping was delayed by the POOR packaging of Target. The box was too thin for the product. Fedex had to tape the original pkg, back together and put it in another box, so they could ship it.

Birds love it, but what a mess!
My birds love this but under my bird feeder is such a mess left by the casings. If I do not fill the bird feeder, it takes a few days for it to disappear by whatever other animals are eating it. That is my only issue with this food, otherwise my birds (and squirrels) love it!
