Description
Bringing you Premium Quality Seafood since 1902 – King Oscar® Anchovies are sustainably wild-caught off the coasts of Argentina, Peru and Chile, where fishing has been a way of life for generations. Our gourmet anchovies are transformed into whole "flat" boneless fillets by skilled artisans, then traditionally aged in salty brine for 4 to 6 months before being hand-packed in pure olive oil.

Expired Anchovies
I grabbed a tin of these back in March of this year. They smelled foul upon opening, and expired March 2025. I returned them. I tried again this month, only for them to be the same exact ones from March. They were pulled from the shelves, but I still urge you to check your dates before buying these!

I don’t understand these reviews? It had to be a mass bad batch or something because I got mine a week ago and the expiration date is 2030! They’re absolutely delicious

Listen to the reviews
All the cans of this brand carried by Target are probably expired or not properly canned. The one I received in April 2025 has a best by date of June 2025 but canned fish should have best by dates years out. When I opened the can the oil sprayed everywhere onto my hair and clothes and it literally smelled like feces. I have never complained about fishy fish but this is not fishy it is rotten. I wish I could get compensation for damages what is this experience?

Tastes off
I bought these in March 25, exp date is Jun 25. Fish looked fine. But smell was off, kinda like meaty. Taste was odd like it was marinated in something before packing. Ate the whole can. No mushy or discolored fillets. Oil was clear. Will not buy this brand anymore as the flavor is not how canned anchovies should taste.

Bad
These are, by far, the worst tinned flat anchovies I've ever had. Would not recommend.

Not what I expected
Expiring date less than 6 months, very short for a canned product

If only I would have read the reviews, I have never tasted something as awful as these anchovies. They were absolutely rancid! I took one small bite that I immediately spit out, but to get rid of the taste I had to do salt water rinses, brush my teeth, and drink orange juice. Spare yourself the experience.

Same issue as someone else reported
I as well opened a can in January 2025 with an expiration date of March 2025, and it nearly exploded and smelled horrendous, and I have used anchovies often and have never smelled a can such as this one. I will NEVER trust King Oscar anchovies ever again.

Absolutely Disgusting - Bad Batch?
I purchased 5 tins of this product, and upon opening, all of them had a putrid, rotten smell, despite the expiration date being March 2025 (4 months away). Something is clearly wrong—this seems like a bad batch. I attempted to taste it, and it was absolutely disgusting. For reference, the batch on the cans is marked “DSA-4062/0”.

Ordered this May 2020 and the product I received expired April 2020. I do mostly shipping because of Covid and it will be a hassle to return this. What a waste.

King Oscar Anchovies- The Finest
Far better than Roland and Cento. There simply are no better anchovies than King Oscar. Quality, taste, and the oil are excellent. We use the King Oscar anchovies on pizza.

Target needs to check exp dates
The one star review is only for Target for shipping me expired product. I already know these are excellent anchovies.
