[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got the KiwiCo Geologist Starter Kit for my kid and we both loved it! It comes with real geodes you can crack open, a little volcano that erupts, and a cute rock display. It’s fun, educational, and everything feels really well thought out. The only thing is the display case could be a little sturdier, but overall it’s an amazing kit for kids who love science or exploring. Definitely recommend it!

The kids had so much fun building up pressure in their volcano, to make it "erupt" and also had a ton of fun breaking open their crystal geodes. This kit kept them busy and off their tablets for several hours!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product free from Influenster in exchange for my honest review. This was such a fun kit! My 5 year old absolutely loved it. The volcano was super easy for us to assemble together and worked so well. It has been used many times since assembly, and seems to be just as fun each time. The quality is great as well. The display case was also very easy to assemble and my rock/fossil loving kiddo was so excited to fill it to show off his favorite shark teeth we found when fossil hunting. We have cracked geodes before this, but the ones in this kit come scored and break apart easily and cleanly, which is really nice. The safety goggles and little hammer are handy inclusions. The instructions for each activity are very detailed with clear pictures and are super easy to follow. My 5 year old could do quite a bit on his own, so this would be perfect for slightly older kiddos. I’m absolutely looking into other kits from this brand!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My five-year-old son is a huge fan of rocks and gemstones, so when we were given the opportunity to try this kit for free in return for our honest opinion, we were happy to do so. My initial impression was that the packaging was good. We appreciated everything the kit offered, including two separate activities, a folder with an informative magazine, and even a certificate of achievement. All of the included pieces were packed well, although they weren’t clearly separated between the two activities. The box itself was sturdy enough to keep and reuse for storing the finished projects, but only if broken down. My son was most excited about the geodes, so that was the first activity we tried. The geodes were precut, which was expected, but they shattered a little too easily. Out of the two included geodes, we were really only able to keep one good piece. That was a bit disappointing since we were looking forward to having geodes to display. The volcano set was fun to assemble and watch in action, but it was definitely a one-time-use activity. Once the lava (red puffs) erupted, the excitement was over fairly quickly. It also got a bit messy, especially with small children around, so we had to clean up immediately after finishing. I think the 5+ age recommendation is accurate. I have mixed feelings about the value. If the activities weren’t single-use, I’d feel better about the retail price, but since both were one-time experiences and the geodes couldn’t really be kept, the value felt a bit low. Each project took about 15 minutes, so that’s a fairly high price for roughly 30 minutes of playtime. Overall, the kit was fun and engaging, and my son really enjoyed it. I deducted one star because of the cost-to-playtime ratio. It’s a great hands-on project for kids ages five and up, but I’d recommend doing it when younger siblings aren’t around due to the small pieces.

It stuck together really good so he could move the volcano around without it falling apart. Fun pamphlet with some educational stuff about volcanos and gems. Also came with a little check list on the inside of pamphlet. Super cute!

The included safety goggles and hammer are still being used for other crafts and fun things around the house now. I wish the volcano was more durable, but it was simple to set up and fun to get to explode!

They got to dig, test, and explore real rocks and minerals while actually learning about how they’re formed. The activities were easy to follow, and everything we needed was included (which is a huge plus for busy parents!). It kept them engaged for a long time, and I loved seeing how curious they became about science and the earth. The quality of the materials was great, and the instructions made it feel like a real mini science lab at home. Highly recommend for kids who love to explore and get their hands dirty & this kit makes learning feel like an adventure!

Packaging is great and eco-friendly. Seems pretty durable to be used multiple times before it might not hold up anymore. I was very suprised at how great and educational this was for my child! This one in particular lets kids smash apart some rocks and put them on display. It also lets them build their own volcano and create an eruption! Very fun!

Package was cute but I wouldn’t pay much for it as it only lasted for such a short time.
