Hands down, the best affordable dry texturizing spray. I truly mean that. Create a soft matte texture or lived-in look by applying a light veil all over. Focus mostly on the roots and middle of the hair. Rarely do I make waves without this. How to: 1. Create your desired hairstyle. 2. Add textured, soft matte finish and lasting hold by spraying this at the root first and then add a small amount from middle to ends. Tip: Apply a little, wait 30 seconds, then see if you need more. Give the spray a chance to dry, creating texture and grit before adding a second layer. Contains Zip-Up Technology, our proprietary strengthening complex designed to "zip-up" split ends while targeting weak areas of the hair, smoothing the appearance of damaged cuticles and helping to protect hair from environmental stressors and color fade.

I think she is spot-on when she says this product is the best affordable texture spray there is. I also use and love the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, but the $46 price tag is pretty painful, so I like alternating use with this one. It truly gives similar results to the pricier one, but I would say just a teensy bit less grit and a touch more manageability (the other one can really make my hair harder to rake through with fingers, but the boost it gives is pretty unbeatable). This product is so great for giving that more lived-in look to beachy waves and makes my hair look so full. I also love to use it when I wear my hair straight, as it gives some much-needed "oomph" and shows off the layers in my haircut really well. Great product! If you are looking for a drugstore texturizing spray I honestly wouldn't bother looking at any others; this is where it's at. I also love the smell, but I know that's a subjective thing.
This is my first dry finish texture spray so I can't compare it to other brands, but I do absolutely love it. I don't love perfectly polished curls on me and use the spray to kind of mess and fluff up my hair a bit, make that cute beachy/slept in look to the waves. It says "matte" and maybe it takes down a little of the shine but I don't think it does too much. Also my nose loves the smell of this and her other products but to be honest my eyes don't, I do have to try to use it a little sparingly or my eyes will be irritated :( Just a heads up for anyone else who runs into that with perfume-scented products. Again, I think it's a lovely smell I just wish it didn't irritate my eyes.
I've spent my adult life searching for the perfect product to add volume to my fine, limp hair and that lasts more than just a couple of hours. Kristen Ess products are as close to perfect as I've ever found. This texture spray is light and it pumps up the volume and luster of my hair, without being sticky. Plus it lasts all day, through the work day and into whatever I'm doing afterwards. I can't believe it doesn't cost double or triple its affordable price. This is the first time I've tried it and I'm definitely hooked!
A lot of reviewers complained about the scent. Surprisingly, for me it did not bother me. It is strong at first but seems to fade away. I did think it was a bit drying spray but it did give my ends some texture and body. Perhaps, it will work better on curled hair.
