Q: Hello, Can I use this product under my eyes? I use hydroquinone under my eyes to lighten hyperpigmentation. Hydroquinone makes my skin extremely dry. Can I use cicaplast b5 to moisturize?

submitted by R - 9 months ago
  • A: Hello R, Thank you for your interest in La Roche Posay Cicaplast Balm Vitamin B5 Soothing Therapeutic Cream for Dry Skin and Irritated Skin - 1.35oz. This Soothing cream may be used on the body as well as the face, however we do not recommend using directly on the eyelids as we have not tested this product on that area. Skin around the eye area including the eyelids tends to be thinner than on other parts of the face and body. We would recommend using our Hydraphase Intense Hyaluronic Acid Eye Cream. This hyaluronic acid eye cream moisturizes immediately and provides long-lasting hydration. Visibly diminishes the look of under-eye bags and puffiness. We hope you will give this product a try soon. Thank you for reaching out to La Roche Posay!

This item is awesome. I am on my 3rd bottle. I use it over the hyalu b5, and it is the perfect combo. My skin glowing and very well moisturized. I have normal skin and I do not find this to clog my pores. I use this day and night. I highly recommend it.

A lifesaver!! I have been dealing with a rosacea flare up that left my face feeling tight, hot, like sandpaper, and several acne-like lesions all over my face. I had put Vaseline on my face but it didn’t seem to do much so I read up and found this was highly recommended from a lot of sites. Bought it on a whim and it transformed my skin overnight. The flareup has calmed down a ton and I’m happy to report it didn’t break me out either (I’m very sensitive + acne prone).

BEWARE “Baume” vs “Balm”

They changed the formula. be careful bc the product everyone raves about is the Baumé, they changed it to Balm and also changed the ingredients. The Baumé was a miracle product for me, I had a horrible skin reaction with hives and it literally cleared my skin up in 20 minutes (no joke). This new BALM product is absolutely terrible. it makes me skin worse. I was in tears when i found out they changed this product and wish they would bring the original product that everyone loved back.

My dermatologist recommended this several years ago following a laser treatment that left my skin dry and bumpy. It took awhile but it brought my skin back to its normal state, restored its moisture and softness. I always keep it around now although I do not need it on a regular basis. It it really does work if you have problems with your skin.

This cream is a miracle worker. I have tried countless lotions and creams for eczema and this is the first one that didn’t burn on application and actually eliminated the itchiness. I also it on my toddler who gets some really dry patches that he will itch. One night of using it eliminated the issue. My only complaint is that I wish it was more readily available in store.

As others noted, this relieves irritated skin quickly! It has helped me repair retinol irritation and wind burn. It is thick, leaves a white cast, but dries down on my pale skin. I have noticed I get small blemishes when I use, but the relief outweighs this. I will likely rebuy.

Horrible New Formula

5 out of 5 stars
Andi - 2 months ago

Rated 5 stars to be sure the review is seen. The old formula was a miracle balm to my skin and definitely worth 5 stars, but I unfortunately had to stop using it when they changed the ingredients and began adding chlorhexadine (a powerful anti-bacterial chemical) to it. I'm allergic to chlorhexadine and in not realizing the change, it caused a reaction that burned my face. I'm not sure why they need this in the product, as it worked well the way it was and the rise of antibiotic resistant superbugs are associated with the overuse of antibiotics AND antibacterial soaps, lotions, etc. It is unnecessary at the least and potentially harmful at the worst. If they ever change it back, I will be the first in line to buy it again because it was truly the best for my sensitive skin.

Amazing product!!!

I don't often write reviews but this product experience was absolutely worth sharing. Love, Love, Love this product! I was first introduced to this product by my Dermatologist after having Fractional CO2 laser. Fractional CO2 laser leaves your skin raw, swollen, feels and looks like a very severe sunburn which is never pleasant. It was the product I was told to use immediately post procedure for several days. It soothed my skin like no other product. Recently I had Microneedling with RF which I do regularly every two years. This is a 3 session procedure which are done a month apart. I have mature skin so my treatment is a bit more aggressive. This procedure also leaves your skin very red, sensitive, and swollen like a bad sunburn. After a few days, skin usually ends up with micro scabbing from the needling which feels rough and sensitive. In fact, you can actually see the track marks from the microneedling scabs. This is all very normal but not so attractive. It usually takes days for these micro scabs to fall off naturally, again all normal. I recently had this Microneedling RF procedure again and decided to use Cicaplast Balm during the healing process. It was the first time I used it for this specific procedure. All I can say is wow! Not only did it sooth my skin overnight, redness was almost non existent the next day, it even prevented the rough micro scabbing all together. I healed 10 times faster than I had in the past. It is officially my new go to product. I can't say enough good things about this product! It is truly amazing! If you have dry super sensitive skin, no matter what the cause, this is the product to use!

The tube is difficult to press to get the product out. It also seems like it's partially filled. The cost is too high for a small amount of product that will likely stick to the sides of the container thereby providing even less product.
1 reply from Consumer Care Center team - 2 months ago
Hi There Desert Flower! We apologize for your experience with our Cicaplast Balm B5 for Dry Skin Irritations. Sometimes during the filling process, because of the thickness of the product, air spaces may occur which would create the appearance of an under-fill. Our products are filled by weight and it is our policy to slightly overfill to accommodate for this situation. We thank you for your comments and we will be passing them along to others on our team!

This is a saving grace product for when i need quick, extra, hydration/protection help for when i am about to have a reaction to dryness. When my skin gets too dry it reacts with itcy red bumps that takes days to go away. This product stops that. A layer over my moisturizer will usually stop that from hapoening when I feel it coming on. Seems as if I use 1 to 2 x a week it will prevent from even getting that dry. This products is definitely a must for dry reactive skin.
