Visible results when using our Dark Spot Corrector can vary depending on individual skin types and the nature of the dark spots. Some individuals may notice initial improvements within a few weeks, while others may require more extended use. Consistent application as part of your skincare routine is key. Q: do i apply serum to the darker spots only or to the whole face except around the eyes and nostrils?
A: My dermatologist told me to just apply to the spots you are trying to lighten.
submitted byIvy L - 5 years agoA: Hi Yamamoto! The best way to apply the Mela-D Pigment Control Face Serum is to spread about 4-5 drops on your entire face at night after cleansing. You can use it alone or under a moisturizer. Do not forget to use sunscreen while using this, as it can make you more sensitive to the sun. A great one to pair with this is La Roche Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer SPF 30. I hope this helps!

Q: Can this be used along with my Skin Renewing Nightly Exfoliating Treatment by CeraVe?
A: Hello Ceville! Combining the La Roche-Posay Glycolic B5 Dark Spot Corrector with the CeraVe Skin Renewing Nightly Exfoliating Treatment could be too intensive for some skin types, potentially leading to irritation or dryness. Both products contain exfoliating ingredients (glycolic acid in the La Roche-Posay serum and salicylic acid and ceramides in the CeraVe treatment), and using them together might over-exfoliate the skin. A more cautious approach would be to alternate the products on different nights. For instance, you could use the La Roche-Posay serum one night and the CeraVe treatment the next. This allows your skin to benefit from both products without the risk of over-exfoliation. Always introduce new products gradually and observe how your skin reacts. If you experience any irritation, redness, or excessive dryness, reduce the frequency of use or discontinue one of the products. If you have specific concerns about your skin type and how these products might interact, consulting a dermatologist is always a good idea. They can provide personalized advice based on your skin's needs.

Q: What’s the difference between this product & La Roche Posay Mela B3 Dark Spot Serum with Melasyl and 10% Niacinamide?
A: Hello Ceville! Both the La Roche-Posay Glycolic B5 Dark Spot Corrector and the Mela-B3 Dark Spots Serum target dark spots, but they take different approaches. The Glycolic B5 serum uses glycolic acid to exfoliate and vitamin B5 to soothe, making it suitable for post-acne marks or texture-related hyperpigmentation. The Mela-B3 serum combines niacinamide and Melasyl to reduce existing dark spots from sun damage or aging and prevent new ones by inhibiting melanin production. Choosing the right serum depends on the cause of your dark spots and your skin's sensitivity. A dermatologist can offer personalized guidance if you're unsure which is best for you.
