Good for dry or normal skin. It is the main face wash we use in my household. Always keep one in the shower and by the sink. Only complaint is the bottle cap. The product spills into the cap which causes some to be wasted and this product is not cheap. Def need a moisturizer after as it can be drying.

i started using this product (and the entire 3 step effaclar acne line) and it has absolutely changed everything for my skin. its insanely better compared to any other face wash ive tried. i used to have bad acne and my dermatologist recommended this brand to me. i love this brand so much. i use the wash, toner, and duo spot treatment from the effaclar line and ive been using it twice a day for almost 4 years now and my skin is so much clearer. also, know that it didnt take this long for me to see such drastic results. it really is true when the brand says you will see noticeable results in 10 days. i started seeing more and more progress the longer i used it and the more regularly ive used it (lets be honest, there have been some times we all have had where we got busy and weren’t as constant with our daily skincare routines.) i havent switched from any of these products because they are so amazing. any other face wash ive tried from other brands were too harsh on my skin. one of the main reasons i love this facewash (and all the products ive used from this brand) is because of how gentle they are on the skin, but also how well they work. i definitely would recommend this to anyone struggling with acne or even just needing a facewash, laroche posay is such an amazing brands and ive even gotten my mom to use their products too and she loves them too.

Why menthol
3 out of 5 stars
Josh74 - 1 month ago

I’ve used other salicylic acid washes with no problem. I don’t understand what the purpose of menthol is other than to give a cooling sensation. That’s the only thing I can think of that would cause me to be splotchy afterward. I love all other products and was looking for a daily exfoliating wash with no fragrance.

This cleanser caused red, blotchy burns on my face after a few uses. It was most noticeable around my chin area. If you have very sensitive or irritation prone skin, try something more gentle.

I first bought the La Roche Posay Effaclar Dermatological Acne Treatment 3-Step System Kit. It was a game changer for me. Now I order the bigger version of each product. I’ve been using this for 8 months now. Thank you for this product, I now have clear skin. I even recommended this to my 26-yr old son and he loves it.

This face wash is a game changer. I am a 23 year old woman who has struggled with acne since I was ten years old. I have a hormone imbalance and PCOS that causes hormonal acne. I’ve done accutane, tried all the meds and gentle cleansers and I still suffer from acne. I was going through a particularly bad breakout when my esthetician friend recommended this face wash. I used this morning and night every day for two weeks and my face instantly cleared up. The first week included a lot of flaking of dead skin. It dries out your skin so I would recommend using the double repair moisturizer. I used the moisturizer in the mornings and exfoliated once per week. After two weeks of use my skin is almost entirely clear. My congestion under the skin is gone and my skin is much smoother and less inflamed. I am going to continue using this for as long as I can and I recommend for oily, acne prone skin.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product works the same as Cerave and Cetaphil. I have acne and oily skin. It works amazing for me. I follow it up with a toner and serum. I’ve been using this product for a month and I’ve seen results. I have gotten it for free, thanks to Influenster. I know that they sell it at Target. You should try it if nothing else works for you.

I have consistently used the Dr Brandt Pores No More face wash for about 6 years and for this last year, I decided to give this medicated Acne wash a try for two reasons. Firstly, the Dr Brandt was much too expensive and secondly, I started to experience back acne from sweating, as I workout regularly. This Effaclar wash is my holy grail. I use it on my back and face. I do not suffer from acne on my face, but I do suffer from oily pores/whiteheads/oily skin, and this has helped with all the above! I cannot live without this product and have completely seized use of all other acne products. This truly does it all and the cost is absolutely worth it (and this is coming from a graduate student)!
