Good but for stickers

Great set, cool taillight design, love the green, but (as another reviewer noted) the yellow stickers are misaligned so the side skirts especially stickers are not symmetrical from one side to the opposite. Main reason I subtracted a point. I do like the printed stripe on the windshield however.

I love the Speed Champion series. In fact have built over 20 of theses cars for myself to display. I love the car and the design of the car. However, I am not pleased by the stickers as they are defects - I EVEN SUBMITTED REPLACEMENTS! Lego is really good for missing pieces and sticker replacements. I did receive my sticker replacements and the pieces that were missing. I was happy to get the pieces that were missing, but the stickers are still not matching by design. They're prooly cropped or not positioned correctly. Annoying stickers can be, but they are a huge part of a set. Having a set with inconsistencies on the stickers doesn't look great - Specifically on the side skirts mostly. This is why I'm reviewing this with less of a higher rating. Don't get me wrong, it's a good set with good design. I don't know if I'm having unfortunate luck on this car but I'm not very happy by the end results - for displaying purposes especially.

Sticky sticker situation

So I surprised the kids on a Thursday for no reason other than to spend time together. I’ve always enjoyed time with the kids and a Lego project. However, this set had a bad batch of stickers with it. The die was off when cut which made everything slightly off kilter. For my perfectionist 14yo it was very distracting. And as a manufacturing quality professional I was surprised to see this in a Lego product. Get it together Lego !!

Speed runner up

Just built this and I gotta say it looks nice but build quality and instructions could have been much better. Having just built four different speed champions of similar size within the last few days this should have been simple. Front bumper fell apart, couldn't get hood on without breaking front end. Too many weak spots like doors and windshield, car seems flimsy compared to other builds. Looks nice but be gentle.

I'm not gonna repeat what erbody says abt the yellow line being too high cuz it's been beaten into the ground by this point. It's nice that it uses printed parts for the headlights as opposed to stickers since you can't screw them up that way and it also means you won't see the sticker lines which is another plus. The upside down construction near the splitter area was a surprise to be sure but a welcome one, the designer(s) achieved this via a pair of ball joints as usual with those techniques. This set wasn't too advanced but if my 8 year old self tried to build this, there would be tears and with that I'd recommend assembling it with your child if those were your intentions. It includes 2 sets of hub caps (totaling 8) as is the norm with Speed Champions which is always a nice addition as these parts are somewhat hard to come by outside of Speed Champions. All in all, good car.

Speed Champs Greatest Hits

Love the air intakes and bodywork along the doors/sides and hood, and the flipped snowboard for a spoiler! Little hack I found- at the end, you have one extra set of wheels, the wrench, and the extra helmet (or hair). I put the wrench in the hole in the passenger seat back, which is a perfect way to hang the helmet. And the wheels slide in too

This model is striking to look at, the green stands out among the red and white cars in the series. Playability is impaired by what I feel are loosely connected parts, held by a single stud, in the doors and rear fender which dislodge while playing with the car. I'll leave this one on the shelf and "race" some of the others.

Build process is fiddly and likeness not the best

My son and I regularly build Lego. He's 4 and a half, but is capable of builds with an older age rating, such as the creator shuttle which is rated 8+, and was challenging but a fun build. This build is rated 8+ also but he found it much more difficult. it was much more fiddly, lots of smaller pieces that fall off if they receive any pressure and the surface pieces are more intricate. The color also makes it more difficult to tell what to do in the instructions. It also comes with way to many stickers, for a small build and if not applied perfectly straight the look is ruined. The likeness to the actual car is not very good. It's Lego so is always going to be a best effort representation, but in this instance, it's a stretch to say it looks like the actual lotus. It's the first Lego build we have been disappointed with.

Poorest Lego set ever

I've been building Lego sets for the best part of 30 years, and this is by far the worst set I have ever encountered. The design and looks are fine, the price is sensible... but it's so incredibly poorly designed, I cannot believe the Lego designers allowed this to enter production. The piece falls apart at the slightest touch, and not by accident - it is designed that pieces are not connected well, which is so unlike normal Lego standards. When you try and reattach pieces others fall off. Honestly the worst set I've even seen, it actually made me angry. Horrible waste of money and it's made me reassess how I view Lego as a company.

Having built a handful of Speed Champion cars, I was really looking forward to the new twists in this build. First, color scheme looks great, and the extra detailing really helps bring out some of the visual aesthetics. On the other hand, I was surprised by the lack of tight fits with some of the pieces...several steps and components added pieces that weren't secured on both ends, resulting in a somewhat frustrating build where if you apply too much pressure to one end, the piece would easily pop off (e.g. side door panels, front hood, even the steering wheel isn't designed to be tightly secured). In the end the car looks great, but I would have preferred to see a better engineered product. Side note, this seemingly design flaw only occurs on the front half of the car (bag 2). Back half of the car designed securely (and looks great). If the front half was the same experience, I would have given this a 5 out of 5.

If your set seems like it's not very sturdy, the best thing to do is double-check your build. Sometimes there may be a piece just a little off from where it should be. You’ll also want to make sure that all the pieces are pressed tightly together. Feel free to reach out to us at LEGO.build/Service-BV if you need assistance!
