Q: Do the fish have a magnet in their mouth that allows you to catch them and pull them up, or do you only pull them back up once they've closed their mouth?

A: No magnets once their mouths ar closed then you can pull them up.

This version is extremely difficult even for an adult. It rotates too fast and the mouths of some fish do not open wide enough. It could be fun for older kids who are looking for a challenge. I would not recommend for little ones.

Fish rotate extremely fast and not all of them open their mouths wide enough to catch onto the fishing pole. My child had to force stop it from turning to jam the fishing pole into the fishes mouth.

Dont buy. Cheap piece of garbage
This game is junk. My kids picked out it at the store. They were so excited. When we got home I put batteries in, it worked for 10 seconds and then stopped. Tried new batteries and nothing. Now I have to drive back and return it. Great. Can’t wait to waste the gas…..

Instant Regret!
Within 5 seconds of turning the on button I regretted this purchase. Should have read other reviews! My 3 year old can’t catch a fish since the thing moves so quickly and the mouths don’t open wide. We end up turning it on/off so he can actually catch fish. At least he is still amused. Would have paid more for a better product.

This game rotates WAY TOO FAST for a 4 year old. Even for adults! We could only get 2 out before giving up and we tried for a while.

Doesnt even turn on!

Poor quality
The first time we bought it we couldn’t even open the battery compartment. The screws were defective and we couldn’t open it. The 2nd time everything worked but like previous buyers have said the fish barely open up to put the pole in. Very sad because we remember playing this game as a kid and my husband and I were excited to play with our kids.
