The fit on the indigo rigid pair has changed for the worse. I have been buying these for years but the last 2 pairs i got fit really slim and tapered almost like a 511 or 502. Definitely not a straight fit.

I have worn shrink-to-fit five button Levis 501 jeans EXCLUSIVELY since the 1960s. Wouldn't dream of wearing anything else. If someone or some "function" demands I wear different pants than Levis 501s originals, well, I just don't go there.

The jeans themselves are nice. However, I ordered a 30x32 and a 32x34 because I've never owned raw denim, and the 30 measured 30x31.5 (fine) but the 32 measured 34x33.5. Frankly unacceptable quality assurance and such a disappointment coming from a supposedly heritage brand.

I have been wearing shrink-to-fit indigo 501's for almost 60 years. They have been my go-to for home building, construction, field work, backpacking, travel, you name it, I wore them, and never as a fashion statement. Pairs would last at least five to six years before I recycled them - and that usually was after they'd been patched many times over and my red undies started showing. Very unfortunately, no more. Levi Strauss & Co. has sunk to a second-class jeans mfr. The latest 2-pair I just purchased are not the same weight denim I've relied on all these years. I pinch this new so-called denim and it feels lighter weight than the worn out denim on the old Levi's I have on now. This new 501 product is definitely not a working person's jeans. Levi Strauss has joined the rest of the businesses that still charge the same (or even more) but changed the product weight or volume, just like I see at my grocery market, spend more for less. Money-grubbing for the shareholders I guess. Very dishonest. I would have gladly paid the few bucks more for the same old jeans made of the same old denim. Won't be buying them again - can't abide cheapening up a 150+ year old standard, and I'll be telling my friends and co-workers the same. Shame on you Levi Strauss & Co. You don't deserve that company name any more and I'm sure old Levi would agree if he were around today.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Docking two stars due to poor quality control on this pair of the two I purchased (the other modern black). These were frayed along the edge of every buttonhole and had loose threads along multiple seams. Still wearable but not ideal and my modern black pair didn’t have these defects. For fit notes, I am AFAB 5’3” 28” waist and purchased these in a 30x30. Machine washed and dried for maximum shrinkage as they were quite loose and long on my frame. Once shrunk, they fit well on the waist but were slightly tight on the upper thigh. Have the relaxed boyfriend jean look I’m going for, but I’m not in love with the fit on the butt (common issue with men’s jeans due to differences in the depth of the butt curve compared to women’s jeans) so I will be getting them tailored. Overall a great value

Not real 501 S.T.F , too thin of material , too soft, the original S.T.F 501’s would take 6 months of washing twice a week to get them to slightly soften up and fade, this “New” paper thin jeans arrive pre softened and they they wear out in a month. Too much money for too thin of jeans, Come on Levi’s , bring back the original tough jeans the 501S.T.F jeans.
