Q: Do you think this could be used on an electric stove top?
A: It'd work, but in my experience cast iron isn't good for the glasstop as it scratches.
submitted bycorman84 - 4 years agoA: The Lodge website says it does work on glass tops. It just takes a while to heat up.
submitted byWp1382 - 6 years agoA: It probably wouldn't work very well, gas is preferred. Electric would take a pretty long time, but it would be ok.
submitted byHoffstir - 7 years agoA: The best way to find out is to try it, but if it heats a cast iron skillet this wouldn't be any difference.

Q: The description says "This dishwasher-safe, reversible iron griddle by Lodge has a permanently welded handle for safety and ease of use." Then further down it says hand-wash only. Which is it?
A: They are very contradictory on this in there care video they show using soap but in instructions say not to. Id advise against it but you can return within a year so do it and if it messes up exchange it.
submitted byRd - 3 years agoA: Only hand wash cast iron and never use SOAP! The soap with get in the cast iron and your food will taste like soap. Use extremely hot water and scrub if you need to then coat it with oil after every use. The more you do this it will become non-stick. I have been using cast iron pans for 30 years. Here is a trick- If you have stuck on food after you have tried hot water pour salt in your pan and scrub with a paper towel or stiff brush. It will act like an abrasive and get off the residue. Good luck!
submitted byDCharles - 8 years agoA: Hand wash only for all cast iron. The description might need to be revised.
submitted bysnowpixi - 8 years agoA: Hand-wash only. All cast iron is hand-wash only. It will be ruined by putting it in the dishwasher.

Q: Can this be used on a glass top stove?
A: I have not tried it yet, but we do use our Lodge skillets on our glass top stove. Use just have to be careful when moving the cast iron as it can scratch the surface. I do love our griddle though. We just haven't had occasion to use it since having the new stove installed.
submitted byTraci - 8 years agoA: I've been using mine on an electric glass cooktop for over 30 years, no problems.
submitted byGramma Lyn - 11 months agoA: It would not be advisable to use any cast iron cookware on a glass top range as it will scratch the surface and has the potential to break the glass from the heat and weight.

Q: Description states induction-compatible. To work w/induction, direct contact w/surface is needed. The surface doesn't appear to be flush on either side. A reviewer said it isn't compatible - is it???
A: Great question. Cast iron cookware has such a strong magnetic force that the cookware does not have to sit flat to work. For the cookware to reach optimum performance, your stove needs to have a bridge since power-sharing can cause the cookware to have hotspots and heat unevenly. You can check the owners manual or contact the manufacturer of your range to find out if your induction cooktop has a bridge or not.
