Book Synopsis
Read Sally's story in this young adult sequel to Tim Burton'sThe Nightmare Before Christmas written by New York Times bestselling Shea Ernshaw. Jack and Sally are truly meant to be ... or are they? Sally Skellington is the official, newly-minted Pumpkin Queen after a whirlwind courtship with her true love, Jack, who Sally adores with every inch of her fabric seams -- if only she could say the same for her new role as Queen of Halloween Town. Cast into the spotlight and tasked with all sorts of queenly duties, Sally can't help but wonder if all she's done is trade her captivity under Dr. FInkelstein for a different cage. But when Sally and Zero accidentally uncover a long-hidden doorway to an ancient realm called Dream Town in the forest Hinterlands, she'll unknowingly set into motion a chain of sinister events that put her future as Pumpkin Queen, and the future of Halloween Town itself, into jeopardy. Can Sally discover what it means to be true to herself and save the town she's learned to call home, or will her future turn into her worst... well, nightmare?

I love the idea of this sequel expanding on the NBC world and even seeing the other holidays and Sally's backstory, but the beginning and ending feel like they were thrown together hastily and read like an online fanfiction. I'll say that the book was decent aside from the opening and ending, but it's not something I'll be re-reading or recommending.

I didn’t like it which is a shame because I really wanted to. Basically without giving away any spoilers it didn’t feel like it was Sally speaking or any character for that matter. Which was disappointing because I LOVE the movie and Sally to be honest this was written like a bad fan fiction.
fun for people who don't know the story ig

This book does the original so dirty, and tries to change Sally's character a lot. Without spoilers, just know it rips up the canon of the actual movie in a super disappointing way. The first few chapters were nice, and some general world-building things gave me that "feel-good" emotion because we always wanted the movie to go on, but ultimately it's a solid no from me. Between the poor and cringey writing, and the unfathomable alterations to each character's personality, I'm so so surprised Disney allowed their name to be put on this.

I’m obsessed with Halloween. Always have been. Grew up watching a nightmare before Christmas. This is such a fun view of Sally’s, to read. I could completely hear all the voices from the book coming to life since watching the movie. I don’t want to spoil anything, but I do love that they added a new place and explored other doorways. So fun.

I have always loved "The nightmare before Christmas" and so when I saw this book I absolutely had to read it. I love the story line, the details on what Sally went through before, during and after her 'nightmare' took shape. I really hope there is another book that shows more of the ending because I want more of Sally and Jack!
