Description

When you place your baby to sleep on their back, their natural position is for their arms to go up. The Love To Dream Swaddle UP Original features a patented design that allows you to swaddle your baby with their arms up in this more natural position. The medical reason behind baby's desire to have access to their hands is that when they wake up at night, they want to self-soothe, which is simply stroking their cheeks or sucking on their hands. If they are swaddled with their arms restricted, they cannot do this, which causes them to wake, get frustrated, and try to get out of traditional swaddles. The Swaddle UP is a stretchy blend of Cotton and Elastane designed to be snug and cozy around their torso, contain baby's arms, and thereby calm the startle reflex, encouraging a long, restful night's sleep for Mom and baby. The Swaddle UP is safer than swaddling your baby with traditional blankets. With the Swaddle UP, there are no difficult wrapping techniques required and no risk of dangerous loose blankets in your baby's crib. The Swaddle UP's dual zippered design allows you to do diaper changes while keeping baby swaddled and has no pesky snaps, noisy easy closure or tricky wrapping, ensuring that your baby stays comfortably swaddled all night. In addition, the Swaddle UP has plenty of room for baby to move their legs and hips, and recently received recognition from the International Hip Dysplasia Institute (IHDI) as being a 'Hip Healthy' product. The Love To Dream Original Swaddle UP is Stage 1 in Love To Dream's 3 Stage Sleep System. Since 2008, Love To Dream has been finding simple, yet genius solutions to everyday parenting and baby needs. The best news of all is that our products work. So everyone in the family will achieve a better night's sleep. Functionality, usefulness and innovation are key for Love To Dream.

Q: what are the temperature guidelines for these swaddles ?

submitted by NinA - 8 months ago
  • A: Hi! Our Swaddle UP Original swaddle wrap is made of 1.0 TOG fabric, ideal for moderate room temperatures between 68°F and 75°F. We also make several styles in "Lite", which is 0.2 TOG, ideal for warmer room temperatures up to 81°F. Thanks for your question!

Q: Hello! I just bought this yesterday and it seems a little tight around his neck in the back. He is 6 weeks old and around 8 pounds. when he sleeps, does the back neck part loosen??

submitted by Gabrielle - 9 months ago
  • A: Hi Gabrielle--We're unsure what size you purchased, but at 8 lbs., a Small would be the correct size. The neck is designed in a way that it's not too loose so it could go up and over baby's face. It's made of soft, stretchy material so it should be comfortable. Let us know if you have any other questions!

Q: I am due next month and my baby is already trending to be a large baby. 9 pound range. I was originally planning to get the small size but now I am wondering if I should get the medium?

submitted by HappyTshopper - 1 year ago
  • A: Hello! Congrats on your baby to be! We normally recommend a size Newborn for almost all babies, as babies lose 7-10% of their body weight after birth. Just like a loose blanket swaddle would defeat the purpose of swaddling, a Swaddle UP that is too lose would not work as well to help calm baby's startle reflex. In your case, a small may be the correct size to start with, but you could have a newborn size ready as well, and then exchange it if you don't need it, so you're prepared either way. Best of luck!

Q: what weight and length does the newborn fit?

submitted by So sad i missed these - 1 year ago
  • A: The Love To Dream Swaddle UP comes in three sizes: Newborn (5-8.5 lbs., max child height 24"), Small (8-13 lbs., max child height 25") and Medium (13-19 lbs., max child height 27").

Q: Do I remove the swaddle during night feeds?

submitted by Hamilton - 2 years ago
  • A: The Love To Dream Swaddle UP can be worn during night feeds depending on the position that you are feeding your little one in. We would advise you to speak to your child's pediatrician or a lactation consultant if you need assistance in finding a position that works in the Swaddle UP and feeding at the same time.

Q: Could my baby that has hip dysplasia and had to wear a brace wear this since the bottom of the saddle looks roomy?

submitted by Sv - 3 years ago
  • A: Good question! The Swaddle UP is not designed specifically to have enough room to accommodate for a hip dysplasia brace, so it could be very snug fitting in the legs/hips which is not advised. Love To Dream does make a special Hip Harness swaddle on their site for these very occasions.

Q: I just received mine...do they all come with a very strong perfume-like scent??

submitted by Sarah - 3 years ago
  • A: No! We have two and neither had a scent when purchased. We washed it before using it regardless.

My baby boy loves to put his hands up on his face but still startles himself, so I thought to try this. It didn’t contain his startle reflex, so it didn’t work for us. I gave it 3 stars because it’s a nice swaddle, but not for us.

Best swaddle for babies who love having their hands around their face. This is the only swaddle my daughter likes and it totally changed sleeping for us. Significantly reduced waking up because of the startle reflex. 10/10 would recommend.

We have been struggling with swaddling our newborn. He is so strong that he eventually wrestles out of any type of swaddle that we try with him, but if we do not swaddle him, his startle reflexes keep him awake. I was hesitant on what size to buy because he is growing quickly and I wanted the one we ourcjase to last longer than 2 weeks. He is 10 lbs now and the small would likely not last long. I ended up taking a chance and ordering the medium. It has worked out fine, it is a little big but not enough to cause any issue or concern and still works is effective. It is light enough for him to wear with the warm weather we are now getting.

I was a skeptic about the cost/benefit here but I was shocked at my babies reaction to this! My baby would get upset and seemed claustrophobic when we put her in traditional swaddles. She’d fight them so hard and when ever she woke up at night she’d start fighting it again and was hard to console (even though they did help with the startle reflex). This was a game changer. She loves having her arms up by her face! She doesn’t ever fight this swaddle. I think her legs being free to kick around also helps with her gas! The little arm sections help tone down the startle reflex a lot. We use this for every single nap and bedtime. It’s hard to find time to wash it because she’s in it so much since newborns are always sleeping! I can’t recommend it enough. So easy to use. The double zipper rocks for diaper changes too!

We absolutely love this baby swaddle. They are soft and breathable but keep the baby warm enough. I used this with all three of my babies! All my babies love to sleep with their arms up and they slept so much better in these and no more waking up from the startle reflex! Now I buy these for all my friends that have babies because it’s a must have!

Easy to get on and off! They're great for one of our twins that works his way out of any swaddle because he doesn't like his hands pinned. The other guy gets a different brand. Just depends on your babes preference

My baby loves this swaddle. He slept with his hands up and hated his hands being swaddled down but still needed to feel secure. This was the answer! He could move his hands just slightly so he didn’t feel too constricted. I wish I had this one from birth! We eventually used the transition sleep bag as well.

Our baby absolutely LOVES this swaddle! He sleeps really well with his arms up and is able to soothe himself way better in this that traditional arms down swaddles. The material is also great. Our baby gets hot easily and will scream if he gets to hot. This material is soft but not thick so we don’t have any temperature issues.

Ok so backstory… when my newborn daughter would sleep, never failed she would wake up as soon as we set her down or when she startled. It got to a point where she was sleeping on my chest because I just needed some sleep. Well one night on a whim I purchased this when I was desperate and sleep deprived. I bought about 5 different types of popular swaddles. This was the only one that worked! I cannot say how much I love this now. It has been over a month that I’ve used it and my daughter sleeps through the night in her crib with this all the way through until her next feeding. These have been an absolute life saver. I would have never guessed to purchase this swaddle but I ended up getting more because they are just that great!! Also, they are lightweight, stretchy, not close to the neck and good quality material!

My newborn will only sleep with his hands up, but still loves to be swaddled (and sleeps better when swaddled). This was a game changer and is now an essential need in our house! We have 2 and he loves them both, and sleeps great at 5 weeks. I would recommend this product to anyone with a newborn who prefers to have their arms up.

Absolutely love this item!! We got it after the third day of our newborn being home and him struggling to sleep , now he sleeps instantly when it’s on and it helps a lot since he likes to have his hands by his face to sleep. Great product and super easy to use, especially when needing to change a diaper.
