About this item

  • Unique patented wings allow natural ARMS UP™ position. ARMS UP™ allows true SELF-SOOTHING™ = more sleep
  • Swaddle in seconds with no breakouts. Snug fit for secure feel, warmth and comfort.
  • Twin zipper for easy diaper changes.
  • Easy care: machine wash on gentle, tumble dry on low.
  • 1.0 TOG fabric is ideal for moderate room temperatures between 68°F and 75°F
  • Certified 'hip-healthy' by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute allows recommended flexion for hips & legs.
  • Proudly supporting First Candle and SIDS research.
When you place your baby to sleep on their back, their natural position is for their arms to go up. The Love To Dream Swaddle UP Original features a patented design that allows you to swaddle your baby with their arms up in this more natural position. The medical reason behind baby's desire to have access to their hands is that when they wake up at night, they want to self-soothe, which is simply stroking their cheeks or sucking on their hands. If they are swaddled with their arms restricted, they cannot do this, which causes them to wake, get frustrated, and try to get out of traditional swaddles. The Swaddle UP is a stretchy blend of Cotton and Elastane designed to be snug and cozy around their torso, contain baby's arms, and thereby calm the startle reflex, encouraging a long, restful night's sleep for Mom and baby. The Swaddle UP is safer than swaddling your baby with traditional blankets. With the Swaddle UP, there are no difficult wrapping techniques required and no risk of dangerous loose blankets in your baby's crib. The Swaddle UP's dual zippered design allows you to do diaper changes while keeping baby swaddled and has no pesky snaps, noisy easy closure or tricky wrapping, ensuring that your baby stays comfortably swaddled all night. In addition, the Swaddle UP has plenty of room for baby to move their legs and hips, and recently received recognition from the International Hip Dysplasia Institute (IHDI) as being a 'Hip Healthy' product. The Love To Dream Original Swaddle UP is Stage 1 in Love To Dream's 3 Stage Sleep System. Since 2008, Love To Dream has been finding simple, yet genius solutions to everyday parenting and baby needs. The best news of all is that our products work. So everyone in the family will achieve a better night's sleep. Functionality, usefulness and innovation are key for Love To Dream.

Q: Does this swaddle make baby’s arms tied since positioned upward??

submitted by Tor - 5 months ago
  • A: Hi There! The Swaddle up allows the baby's to be in an arms up position. If the swaddle is fitted properly they should have one arm up on each side of their body. The arms should not be crossed. Please check our website for more info.

Q: Hi! If I know someone’s child is 6 months old and they are using this wrap is it safe? And does it do anything with their arm development?

submitted by Aa - 6 months ago
  • A: Hi there! At 6 months we recommend your baby to try the Swaddle Up Transition bag. This allows baby to transition from the arms up swaddle to having their arms free with the snug comfort around the chest of a swaddle. Once the baby is able to roll over the transition bag is the best choice.

Q: Can I put these on baby with or without a onesie to sleep? Or will he overheat l? Temp is 73 degrees

submitted by Wendy V - 6 months ago
  • A: Hi there! The Swaddles are meant to go over your baby's onesies. If you are concerns about temperture please check out our lighter weight .2 TOG styles on the website.

Q: when do I know it is time to size up?

submitted by Melly - 7 months ago
  • A: Hi! Thanks for reaching out. All our products have weight suggestions in the descriptions. Please note the current weight of your baby and compare that to the product size chart. The swaddles are meant to be snug to give a swaddled feel. Small is 8-13 lbs and Medium is 13-19 lbs. If the baby is showing signs of rolling we suggest moving to the Transition Bags. Those sizes are also by weight. Thanks!

Q: When using this, if baby is a sqiggler and moves too much is it dangerous to have them in it??He seems to fuss more in it than out of it

submitted by LivingbyTheSea - 10 months ago
  • A: Hello and thanks for checking in! Our Swaddle UP is suitable from “day-one” up until your baby is showing signs of rolling over. Even if they are a “squiggler” as long as they are placed on their back to sleep, in their own sleep environment, the swaddle is still suitable. The arms-up position allows baby to self soothe by bringing their hands to their face or mouth whilst still providing enough resistance in the wings to calm the moro/startle reflex in the first 3 months. As a baby gets older, they start to move around the cot, this is part of their development and is great for them. You should not inhibit this natural desire for movement and your baby's arms should not be restricted when they are able to roll over. No matter what their age, as soon as baby starts showing the signs of getting ready to roll, it’s really important for both their safety and development that you transition them from arms-in swaddling to arms-free sleep. For some babies this can happen as early as 8 weeks but for others it may be much later, anywhere from 3 – 6 months. So, you need to be on the lookout! Signs that baby is getting ready to roll include: - Starting to roll over during playtime - Pushing up during tummy time - They can lift their legs and flop them to the side - Attempting to roll when swaddled

Q: what are the temperature guidelines for these swaddles ?

submitted by NinA - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi! Our Swaddle UP Original swaddle wrap is made of 1.0 TOG fabric, ideal for moderate room temperatures between 68°F and 75°F. We also make several styles in "Lite", which is 0.2 TOG, ideal for warmer room temperatures up to 81°F. Thanks for your question!

Q: Hello! I just bought this yesterday and it seems a little tight around his neck in the back. He is 6 weeks old and around 8 pounds. when he sleeps, does the back neck part loosen??

submitted by Gabrielle - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi Gabrielle--We're unsure what size you purchased, but at 8 lbs., a Small would be the correct size. The neck is designed in a way that it's not too loose so it could go up and over baby's face. It's made of soft, stretchy material so it should be comfortable. Let us know if you have any other questions!

Q: I am due next month and my baby is already trending to be a large baby. 9 pound range. I was originally planning to get the small size but now I am wondering if I should get the medium?

submitted by HappyTshopper - 3 years ago
  • A: Hello! Congrats on your baby to be! We normally recommend a size Newborn for almost all babies, as babies lose 7-10% of their body weight after birth. Just like a loose blanket swaddle would defeat the purpose of swaddling, a Swaddle UP that is too lose would not work as well to help calm baby's startle reflex. In your case, a small may be the correct size to start with, but you could have a newborn size ready as well, and then exchange it if you don't need it, so you're prepared either way. Best of luck!

This was an amazing find! A great alternative to re-wrapping a swaddle in the middle of the night after feedings. Super soft on sensitive skin. Easy to change diapers without disturbing the baby too much. Nice and light weight so you can layer. We used this for my baby starting at a few days old and it has been a part of her nightly routine every night now for two months! Don’t hesitate to buy or add to your registry, it will be your favorite sleep sack!

Our baby loved having her arms up and escaped all traditional swaddles so this swaddle was a godsend to help with her startle reflex without making her miserable. We bought 3 to cycle through, and loved it so much that we bought the next size up when she outgrew NB.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME!!

Best. Gift. Ever (I gave it to myself)! My baby is 5 1/2 weeks old. He doesn’t like the Velcro swaddle very much and I usually just swaddle him in a blanket. I feel like I’m a pretty good swaddler, but every once n a while he breaks out and he is ALWAYS trying to which seems to wake him up. I stumbled upon these and just had to try it! I told myself not to get my hopes up with the extra hours of night that everyone talked about. He had started going 5 hours at night (sometimes) before the swaddleup. The first night I used it on him was a rough night (not because of the swaddle- we had a family party and I didn’t put him to bed until midnight) but he went his longest stretch ever, 5 1/2 hours. the second night? SEVEN HOURS AND FOURTY FIVE MINUTES! It’s Christmas morning and I’m feeling like I was just given the greasiest gift ever. I will update this if things change but currently I’m feeling like this is a must have baby product!

I was excited to try and hopeful for it to work for my newborn but unfortunately my baby did not like this. He got really angry when he was in it so I returned. I gave it a few nights as well. It’s also so expensive when it’s literally a small piece of thin material with a zipper on it.

Oh how much I love these Love To Dream swaddles! As a mama to two little ones sleep is essential and both my kiddos used these swaddles. They are far superior to all others. They allowed for the hands to be near the face which is a natural pose for newborns. And they have a transition sack that made transitioning out of the swaddle easy. If you’re questioning buying it I’d say don’t just put it in the cart. I’d recommend this to all my mamas.

Now every night we put her in, she drifts off to sleep. She is still able to self sooth through the night. Buy it!!!
