Lyric Golden Safflower Bird Seed for Outside Feeders - Attracts Cardinals, Chickadees, Woodpeckers & More, 5 lb Bag

I have been buying my bird seed from this company for a few years now . The ease of ordering , the value, and the quality of the products are amazing. I have had a hard time keeping the squirrels from climbing and eating the bird seed in the past. On my last order I did a search on the web site and found a bird seed that said squirrels don’t like it. Well I have to say I am a very happy bird watcher now! I have gone from 6 or more squirrels attacking my feeder to an occasional squirrel trying it out and realizing it’s not for them. Thank you Lyric for solving my squirrel problem with Golden safflower seed. I also have a larger assortment of birds at my feeder .

The mourning doves, American goldfinches, and house finches love this seed. Always pleased with the quality of all the seed and mixes I purchase here.

We have been using golden safflower for over a year. Currently we have close to 100 American goldfinches using 4 different feeders filled with golden safflower. There are about a dozen pine siskins and several purple finches mixed in with the goldfinches. AND NO SQUIRRELS at the feeders! 😊

Seems like I have a ton of activity around my feeder but it takes a while for it to empty. I have seen birds I hadn't before. Love the variety it brings. I have gotten my first nest built in one of my palm trees since using this feed. I can't wait until spring for even more activity.

The Golden Safflower mix has been a favorite of the birds. It's one of the first feeders to go empty. I fill up our feeders every Sunday and this one is usually empty by Thursday. Lots of birds seem to enjoy it.

The squirrels are enjoying it too. I was surprised to open the bag and not have any kind of musty smell. I will absolutely keep feeding all the birds I have had, it’s been a joy watching them.

Many of the popular bags are a mix of seeds, and other brands use tons of cheap filler seed that most birds don’t like. I’ve put this seed in a feeder, and a different one has a good mix. This seed attracted more birds to my yard - many that I hadn’t seen before. I had very little seed get dropped to the ground, and I noticed that tons of birds gathered around this seed. I had a ton of the usual blue jays and cardinals, but I also got finches and nuthatches. The cool thing is that this seed seems to be more nutritious - because I had TONS of birds, but they really didn’t go through a ton of seed. The best part is that grackles don’t seem to like this, so they didn’t monopolize the feeder. The bag was really full, and I didn’t see a lot of crushed or powdered seed in the bag. Seems to be very high quality, and my birds love it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my first time trying this type of bird seed. I normally stick to black sunflower seeds, but this looked appealing. I'm using this in smaller tube feeders and it works really well. It's small enough that it doesn't get stuck and the birds have a pretty easy time getting the food out. I like feeding the birds this over the winter when I know they don't have as much to eat. Everything looks like high quality ingredients and consistent throughout the bag.
