Our clothes are in constant contact with bacteria throughout our day-to-day activities, for example through contact with contaminated surfaces, other people and our own bodies. Bacteria can spread from one fabric to another in the laundry basket, from the washing-machine drum to the next load. Some of these bacteria can survive following the wash cycle. Q: I watched my laundry cycle. My rinse cycle is only 13 minutes. So according to Lysol my clothes are not sanitized. If I pause the load the water will eventually start to drain. Any suggestions?

Lysol Laundry Sanitizer is formulated to be used in the rinse cycle without additional additives, such as fabric softener. Lysol Laundry Sanitizer provides a limited softening effect.

Q: Do I STOP the rinse cyle with clothes submerged in water, put it in and let clothes soak for 16 minutes and push start on the cycle once the 16 minutes is up? OR, just put it in and let it be?

A: Based on what I read (I haven't used this product yet) you can do the first option you mentioned or put it in the fabric softener compartment. You can also add it in to soak for 16 min before washing.

Q: Would this product be effective if I added it to the drum of the washer by itself, agitated, then stopped and let it soak, then let it rinse. Then did a SECOND wash with detergent alone?

A: It is best to follow the usage instructions for the best results. Allow for clothes to be washed by your detergent first, then add Lysol Laundry Sanitizer directly to the rinse cycle. You can let it soak for 15 minutes.

My initial use was on my shower curtain and liner and it worked great! Was expecting it to be thick consistency like a detergent but it is a water consistency so be careful so you don't splash! No strong scent that I noticed. No fragrance or dyes. I will buy it in the future! :)

The smell is not great, even though itis fragrance free but it does not linger after washing clothes. Overall, good product, I will likely buy this product again mainly for my rugs and towels.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Lysol Free & Clear Laundry Sanitizer has quickly become an essential part of my household laundry routine, not just because it claims to kill 99.9% of bacteria even those that regular detergents leave behind but also because it actually delivers on that promise without using any added fragrances, dyes, or harsh chemicals, which is incredibly important for my family as we have sensitive skin and allergies, and I’ve found it particularly helpful for sanitizing items like sweaty gym clothes, musty towels, and everyday wear that needs a deeper level of cleanliness without compromising fabric integrity or comfort; plus, the fact that it’s compatible with both standard and HE washing machines, requires no bleach, and is safe for colors and whites alike makes it even more versatile and convenient to use, although I do recommend following the directions very carefully especially the soak or rinse time to avoid any potential irritation from its concentrated formula, and while it does have a caution label due to its strong disinfecting properties, I personally haven’t had any issues because I use gloves while handling and keep it stored safely out of reach of my kids, which makes me feel even more confident knowing that our laundry isn’t just clean, but truly sanitized and safer, especially during cold and flu season or after illness, and despite being on the pricier side compared to regular softeners or boosters, the value it adds in terms of hygiene, odor removal, and peace of mind is absolutely worth it in my experience.
