MAC Matte Macximal Lipstick - Ulta Beauty

Such a beautiful deep chocolate shade! I was worried it would be too bold for me but it's absolutely stunning. Had to swipe on the lips a few times to really get it on there for this one compared to others I've tried though.

I have a more warm toned complexion and warm teddy compliments me so well! Has subtle pop of rose color with tiny hints of orange and brown depending on lighting. Still light enough where it's a pretty nude in my opinion.

I was a bit skeptical and worried that trying the camera try on wasn't going to be accurate enough but I am amazed at how spot on it actually was. It's a nice subtle pigment and wearing with a liner adds just enough depth for an everyday lip.

I've never really been one to wear lipsticks but I am In awe at how gorgeous this beautiful warm tone of brown transforms my entire look! It isn't too bold or too subtle and it applies super smooth.

Lovely pale pink, very neutral and mixed well with different liners and even gloss. For more pop and drama out of a pink, I suggest Saint Germain over this one.

Gorgeous pinky nude. It's casual and classy, pulls my face together really well for daytime everyday makeup. Im loving this one and lining it with stone. It even fades to a nice color which is a nice plus.

The perfect cool toned nude lipstick. Super creamy, moisturizing, and long lasting, definitely recommend for any cool toned lovers!

I really love this lipstick, it can be blended with just about any lip liner and look so good. In the picture I'm wearing it with Plum liner, not just a nude it's got a little drama.

These are my favorite lipsticks & they apply so effortlessly. The color is so pretty, especially with the right lip liner. You really can't go wrong with any of the shades! They're just perfection!

I love how soft and smooth it is, and one swipe is all it takes to get the color on. It's not *VERY* drying, but slightly still - nothing a touch of gloss or my fav, the , tendertalk lip balm won't fix. Highly recommend.

I have 2 tubes in this shade; it's my favorite pink colored lipstick. It's creamy, long-lasting and lasting, and I love 🩷 the slight candy flavor. I'll definitely keep this in my makeup box.

Yash is the best nude color. I pair it with the chestnut lip pencil or cork lip pencil and it's perfect! I love it!

There had been some talk that this shade (ruby woo) looked different in the macximal formula vs. the retro matte. Let me first say that I infinitely prefer the new formula over the previous ones. It's gloriously comfortable to apply and wear. In fact I now look forward to it! Also, some of the older shades that look a bit different in swatches, which made everyone lose their minds, actually look fairly identical (or even better) on the lips. That being said, this is one shade where I would say something was indeed lost in translation. The reason ruby woo is so special is BECAUSE of the retro matte finish. And I believe that's why there was never a suitable dupe. So while I think Mac got exceptionally close in the new macximal formula, it's impossible for the color to look exact. Because of the now semi-matte finish, as opposed to ultra matte, what you have is a thinner application and bluer base that pushes the color a touch pinkier. It's still vivid, but it's less intense... and that was the beauty of the OG ruby woo - the intensity. Again, while it looks a bit different swatched, it's pretty darn close on the lips. You see it more if the lipstick is sheered out or once it begins to wear. But applied in opaque layers, it's hardly noticeable. Still, it doesn't have the purity or impact of the retro matte version, which will forever be my favorite. I hope Mac continues to offer ruby woo (and others like all fired up and relentlessly red) in the retro matte formula!
