Let Your Light Shine!

Would you like to do something nice and unexpected for someone? Or maybe you would like to treat yourself? This little book is chock full of ideas for both those things, and everything in between. The author shares all kinds of recommendations the she has used herself. How about throwing a random appreciation party for someone who does their job while getting little or no attention? For instance, have treats and/or drinks along with signs of appreciation to whip out when the mailman stops by with your mail. This day will long be remembered by your mail carrier. The next time you have coffee with a friend, notice exactly what she orders, and record it. When her birthday comes around, show up at her house with her favorite cup of Joe. Not only will she be happy to have her special day remembered, she will be amazed by your thoughtfulness. Both of these ideas, plus a lot more, will be found in this volume. In addition to all of these being nice things to do, God's love shines through them, as well. What better way to show love to others than by visibly demonstrating it through acts of kindness? I recommend this 5-star book to everyone that likes to do thoughtful things for others. Make sure to keep your copy in an easy place to find, that way it will always be on hand when you want to bless someone! Bethany House Publishers has provided Tickmenot with a complimentary copy of, Make Their Day, for the purpose of review.

AMAZING THOUGHTFUL IDEAS!

5 out of 5 stars
Moonpie - 4 years ago
Ms. Ehman is one of my favorite authors! I love sharing, giving and doing for others. She always has beautiful, thoughtful and unique ideas to brighten people’s days and make them feels special. This book as with her others has practical ideas anyone can do. The majority without a lot of work or cost. They are flexible in that you can personalize them to fit your special giving situation. More than ever right now people need to be encouraged. As the book cover says there are 101 of these little treasures. I found them all to be uncomplicated and easy. The most impressive thing I found was that ALL of them are extraordinarily thoughtful, and that is something that really touches people’s hearts. One of my favorite of the 8 sections is “Throughout Your Day and Around the Town.” I love surprising people that work in the community as they are seldom recognized. This is not giving me a pat on the back as the Lord gets the credit, but I want to share a personal experience in this area. There was a woman at a very busy business in town. EVERYTIME I was there no matter how busy they were or how grumpy a costumer she was always patient, kind a wore a real smile. The Lord kept prompting to do something for her. So I put together a little bag, and wrote a letter telling her how much I appreciated her. She cried. Next time I went in she told me that day she had planned to take her life. She was so discouraged and alone. The tiny gift and note that only took a small amount of time gave her hope and made her want to go on. I learned that you never ever underestimate the impact of small acts of kindness as in this book. Remember, the gift you give is not truly the “gift”; the true gift is that you thought of them and cared. I received these books from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for an honest review. The opinions stated are my own.

Book Review--"Make Their Day" by Karen Ehman "Make Their Day" by Karen Ehman is a small book that is packed with inspiration and ideas to help you make a difference in people's lives daily. If you are looking for ways to encourage, uplift, help or just bring a smile to the people around you daily then this book will surely show you many ways to do that. Karen Ehman lists 101 simple, but powerful, ways to bring kindness and love into the world of those around us. This book will inspire and uplift you to make a difference in peoples lives daily, and will be a handy reference you will refer to when you need some ideas on how you might reach out to share some help or kindness to those around you. These are simple, inexpensive ideas that don't require a lot of time or money on your part, but can make a big impact in uplifting someone's life. In these days we are living in right now, I feel the world needs to see and feel more love, kindness and caring, and this little book is filled with ideas that show you how to do that in your little corner of the world daily. I feel the Lord has blessed me with the gift of encouragement, and I have built a ministry around that and have been able to bless and encourage others all over the world for many years, however, reading this little book "Make Their Day" has definitely given me many more practical ideas and ways that I can minister to others through my ministry and also to the people around me in my neighborhood, my family and friends. I received a copy of this book free from Bethany House, a division of Baker Publishing Group, in exchange for an honest review. All comments are my own.

I really liked this book. It’s filled with wonderful ideas of how to bless, encourage or simply make someone’s day. It’s put together so you can easily find what type of idea or activity needed. I loved how all the ideas were truly meant to bless others. Some ideas are very easy or quick while others take a bit of planning but no matter which one you choose, everyone will be blessed. Grab a copy for yourself and a copy for someone else.

Love this book. It is full of practical ideas to love on your friends and family and make their day!!!! Some are things we may think of like handwritten notes but she adds ideas such as including tea bag for the recipient to enjoy!!! I have actually sent written notes to some who can't get out much in this pandemic and added the teabag and boy what beautiful responses I got!! It also comes at a perfect time when so many people are isolated due to the pandemic. It is an easy read and a great reference for the future! Enjoy and lets together spread more kindness!

I received this book in advance for an honest and fair review. I absolutely love Karen’s books! She gives real advice that can help us. What I love most about this book is that it’s full of ideas to help us help others and make their day better, which is needed when it’s been so negative and during a pandemic! This would be a perfect book for a woman’s group to do together. I would definitely recommend-especially if you are wanting to find a way to make the days better for others.

Love others well!

Deb - 4 years ago
Just what we need to do after 2020... Love others well! Make Their Day by Karen Ehman is easy to read, spurring you on to do simple, thoughtful acts of love and kindness! And who today couldn’t use more love and kindness? Karen divides the 101 ways over 8 sections that begins with our circle of friends and ripples out to include anyone we may come in contact with. In implementing Karen’s ideas I pray others will see beyond me and recognize God’s love and compassion for them. I am looking forward to doing #26 Five Dollar No Holler Date Night and #38 Spread a Little Love to Those at Crossroads soon!

What many of our friends and family need most right now is an extra dose of kindness. What the world needs is an extra dose of kindness. Have you ever had the urge to do something nice for someone, but didn’t know what to do? I’ve been there many times. Karen has come to our rescue and created a book full of incredible ideas for making people feel special. Ideas for those nearby, far away, and those we haven’t met yet. I’ve found that looking outward and finding people to encourage has helped me out of some of my darkest days. Thank you, Karen, for a wonderful tool for the days ahead!

Spread Kindness Around

5 out of 5 stars
lmpreiss - 4 years ago
Karen Ehman seems to thrive by doing things for others and she wants to share her knowledge and insight with you. She enjoys spreading kindness to those around her – and wouldn’t the world be a better place if we all did that? Make Their Day is basically a book of lists – ways to make someone’s day a little brighter, a little easier, a little more fun. The subtitle says it better – “101 simple, powerful ways to love others well.” Karen gives you 101 ways to spread love and kindness to those around you. The book is broken down into groupings: In Your Circle of Friends, Within Your Own Family, Across the Miles or through the Screen and others. Some ideas are very simple like buying coffee for a friend or writing someone a handwritten note about how much they mean to you. Others are more elaborate and would take more planning – like planning a slumber party for you and your friends or creating a snack station at your office so people can stop by for a quick pick-me-up. I’d like to say the ideas are endless, but truly there are 101 of them – but they can spark a person’s creativity to come up with some of their own ideas too. I really enjoyed this book and the ideas Karen shared! I hope to encourage my family to spread kindness now and throughout the new year. If you are tired of all the negativity and anger going around in the world today, get this book and follow the suggestions to bring more love and kindness to those around you. Maybe it will start a movement! I was given an advanced reading copy of “Make Their Day” by Karen Ehman for an honest evaluation of the book.

Make Their Day by Karen Ehman is a wonderful collection of 101 delightful ideas of ways you can encourage others. Included are ideas such as leaving out treats for your delivery people, putting together a gift basket of items related around a book, and so many other creative ways to encourage. Some might think of Karen as the "queen of hospitality" who delights with her simple and practical ideas of showing hospitality to others, wherever it may be! In Make Their Day, Karen shares ideas to encourage friends, your own family, throughout your day and around your town, across the miles or through the internet, those who are hurting or in need, within the church, through holidays as well at in your home. Karen even offers some fun printables. After reading Make Their Day, you will be inspired by not only the ideas Karen includes but inspired to think of other ideas as well! I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review, which I was happy to do. I heartily recommend Make Their Day!
