Spirits of the Wild: Awakening Relaxing, Light Strategy Board Game with Beautiful Art for 2 Players

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First off, this game is absolutely gorgeous. The artwork on everything, not limited to the box, is beautiful. I love that all game materials are in both English and German. It was really easy to learn and play, but still felt engaging after playing over and over again, and it left myself and my daughter wanting to continue playing multiple times with the relatively short "rounds" of gameplay. This game is quick enough that it's easy to do a play-through before bed, which makes it a great way to close out the day with someone special. My daughter loves getting together after dinner to play to wind down for the night. Sometimes we get one round in, sometimes we get 3 or 4. I also love that the game can be altered slightly by switching out the animals (though we already have our favorites), but remains the same overall. It's been fun to learn a little in German from comparing the English and German cards as well. Overall, a beautiful game that has a quick gameplay that anyone can pick up and learn. The only thing I wish was different was if you could play with more than 2 people.

This game is easy to learn and play. Each of the boards requires a specific combination of stones that players need to make, so the game requires some strategy to decide how many stones to draw. The trickster coyote is a fun addition that allows players to stop an opponent from playing on a card. The game doesn't take very long to play, so playing multiple rounds with different boards keeps game play exciting and fun.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter and I played Spirits of the Wild: Awakening. Reading through the directions was a little overwhelming at first, but once we started playing everything started to make sense and the game was enjoyable. My daughter loves animals, crystals and stones in general, so this game was fun for her because she was interested in the different elements of the game. She loved the little coyote figurine and kept trying to push it back to my animal boards.

I heard that this had been out of print and was relaunched with some upgrades. Seeing that it was a two player game excited me, as we’re a two person family. The price was right so I picked it up, and we played twice tonight. Excellent! Easy to learn, strategy is fun, and quick enough not to be soul crushing when you lose. Beautiful art.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This game was a very simple to learn and play. You are trying to collect colored stones to add to your personal animal boards. Each board has a combination you are trying to make. Slightly strategic in that you have certain cards that you use at your own discretion to decide how many stones you draw, you have to both not have too many or too few. Add in a trickster coyote to prevent your opponent from playing on a card and it quickly becomes a game of wits to finish! With more animal boards than you play at one time, you can change the cards you play to several combinations but they instructions so give you a couple combinations to start. We played several rounds with the first example combination the first day and never got bored. We then switched it up and it plays the same and never got boring for us. The game itself doesn't take long to play at all so it can be a quick way to spend time or play several rounds for a family game night. I personally think this would be a great classroom inside recess addition!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The game looked very cute but the instructions are confusing. 18 of our spirit animal cards were in German so we had to use the reference sheet to translate the actions. The Coyote figure has an even base which makes it difficult for it to stand and place. Unsure if the stone colors have any meaning. Overall this game is very confusing.

We didn’t even make 5 minutes of trying to play the game. I wish we had more time with the game or maybe a video showing how to play and how fun it would be with the players enjoying themselves but it was not a good game.

It has 2 different sets of boards and no game is ever the same. Players strategize how to earn the most points based on the placement of pieces on their two boards.

As with any new game, it took a few rounds before getting the hang of it. Kids enjoyed the game a lot once they got moving. Time length for the game is pretty accurate with estimated time on the box.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids were so excited to play The Spirits of the Wild game together. They are 10 and 12 years of age. The graphics on the package were very cool. My daughter is into Spirit Animals and mystic cryptids and this game looked like some of those videos she has watched. We aren’t a family that has played a lot of complex board games and this looked intimidating to figure out but once we got started it wasn’t hard at all. There are cute animals on each board and “stones” to collect. A little bowl for the stones and a fox figure used in game play. My kids were instantly hooked.

The rules are easy to understand and execute. Setup of the game before play is simple and quick. Game play is both fast and entertaining. We enjoyed the concept of the game and the concept of a combination board/card game. The quality of the product is very good. Pieces are of high quality and sturdy.

It is a 2 player game, which is perfect. The game is not long, about 30 minutes per play, but it is engaging. That pesky coyote did me in every time…LOL We really were impressed with the overall quality of the boards and game pieces. It is really a work of art (and it can be played in German, as well)! A very well done addition to our game library, and we had fun!

We found the instructions a little confusing at first with the different types of animal board, and the action tiles, but once we played a few rounds, we got the hang of it. We recommend it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I played this game with my 10 year old daughter. She loved the theme of the game. After reading the rules we played through the game. Something about it felt incomplete. The coyote seemed just move back and forth but never have any real effect on the game play. The concept of this game is fun but gameplay is lacking in excitement and any true competition. Maybe it can be improved upon.

Delightful, replayable strategy game. Easy to learn but pretty hard to master. I played on a date night and we went 3 rounds. The coyote is super cute too.
