We purchased this car seat together with the Gia XP stroller. Within days of using the car seat, the sun shade separated from the back of the car seat. A few weeks later the car seat cover separated from the car seat which exposed the padding for the car seat. I’m not sure if this is safe at this point. Seems to be a trend with this product based on all the other reviews with exactly the same issue.

This car seat is incredibly disappointing and honestly dangerous. The overall construction feels unstable, and I would never trust it to protect my child in an accident. The so-called “padding” is mostly Styrofoam covered with thin, scratchy fabric, it offers no real support or comfort for an infant. My baby cried every time we put them in this seat, and I’m not surprised the hard, cheap material is extremely uncomfortable. The straps don’t stay snug, and the seat wobbles no matter how tightly we install it. That’s a major red flag for any parent. It’s clear this product was made with cutting corners in mind, not safety or quality. Our children deserve better.

If you care for your child do not get this car seat. Very uncomfortable and poorly/cheaply made. Difficult to carry and the base attachment into the car is extremely cheap and unsafe. Would give 0 stars if I could. Do not buy. Stay away from maxi Cosi
Broken canopy cover

I wanted to love this but 4 months in the canopy/cover stopped staying up. Now every time I drive I need to keep turning around and pulling the canopy back so the sun isn’t on my baby’s face. I saw a few other reviews of this happening and figured it wouldn’t happen to mine..well it did! For new moms I would go with another option.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I have twins, imagine the bad seat twice. Both have fallen apart. They were in NiCU so I bought them in August, we didn’t use them till November and already they are gone. I thought I bought a luxury brand to support the kids till 30 lbs. alas. Nobody replies on that customer care line. Have left tons of voicemail. As everyone said, glue is gone, canopy is unstable, material is tearing.

This carseat is not safe at all. It comes apart, literally. My child, my precious baby, will not be safe in case of an accident, which is one of the main points if not the most important of it. I read reviews of people complaining how it all comes apart but I thought, hey, maybe they got a bad batch (which is still unacceptable). But little did I know that I would be part of all those parents that baught a carseat for their baby that was of extreme low quality and safety. The top part of the carseat comes off. The styrofoam detaches from the base. The canopy is useless because it comes off by just moving it forward. The whole seat cannot be kept together even if you tried. Thus is unsafe and unfair. The carseat should be removed from all sales and parents should be refunded. OUR BABIES ARE NOT SAFE IN YOUR CARSEATS.

Fabric falls apart & Styrofoam exposed

Wanted to love it but this carseat is constantly falling apart. Exposing Styrofoam with the sunshield and back fabric pulling out once and never able to be reinstalled. Since the main point of the infant seats is to be able to tote them in and out of the car, I found myself dreading it. Not sure if it is even save given that it is loose fabric. We moved out of this into a carseat that can stay in the car sooner than I wanted. We have 2 other maxi cosi carseats and love them both. This one is a flop.

Horrible quality! First, the sunshade popped off only 4 months of using it. NOW, only 6 months of use, the foam has detached from the plastic carseat and the fabric that the baby actually sits on is detached from the foam! It folds over onto my son’s face! I worry every time he rides in it, looking in my rear view mirror constantly while driving (WHICH IS A HUGE HAZARD WITH RISK OF DEATH AND/OR HARM!) I put this carseat on my registry because I loved the one I bought for my daughter 7 years ago. I’m honestly disgusted at the product quality and lack of care Maxi-Cosi has extended to its customers. After reading the other very recent reviews, the danger is relevant and this product needs to be recalled and every customer to be refunded (I obviously do not want a replacement carseat).

I had this car seat for a few months and was even considering on buying the toddler car seat when she’s old enough but once the car seat started falling apart and no security or back support I changed my mind immediately. We as parents should feel that our infants are safe at all times and the amount of money we spent on this car seat is ridiculously expensive. Sadly I regret ever putting my baby in this car seat 😔

I don’t understand all the negative reviews. We bought this at the recommendation of my sister in law who used it with 2 kids. We have had it for more than one year. Our child loves it. It’s light weight, secure and very convenient to secure and remove.

Just as everyone else, the foam completely separated making it unusable. I’m not normally one to go out of my way to write a review, but this is literally putting lives at risk. Also, the sunshade doesn’t stay on. This needs to be recalled & pulled from shelves immediately along with refunds issued to those who bought this seat.

I absolutely love this seat and it’s the best other than the cover issue. I have to mess with it daily and it never ever sticks. Now that my daughter is old enough she can pull down the canopy herself and it covers her in the car. I have to pull over and fix it. Not good.

This car seat had been a nightmare. It literally just started falling apart 4 months into using it. With a new born there is only but so much wear and tear that can happen so early on. This seat is poorly built and generally unsafe. The cover is supposed to be washable but I can’t see how considering we never even needed to take it off to wash it and the cover started coming off on its own and won’t stay on the seat.

Aesthetically Pleasing but Functionally Disappoint

I would give this two stars solely for its appearance, but I can only give one for the functionality. After removing and washing the cover, it no longer stays securely in place and comes apart during every use, which likely compromises safety. Additionally, clicking the seat in and out of the base is very difficult. I wish I could recommend this product, but I cannot, especially considering the cost of the travel systems.

Horrible. The fabric has never stayed attached in the back leaving the styrofoam exposed and has therefore started to come apart. The sunshade has also never stayed attached in either the back or in the side attachments so it pops out constantly and won’t stay open. Extremely disappointed and needs recalls!
