Q: How do you extend the tip. Does it twist?
A: Hi Tuesday! We recommend sharpening this eye liner using a standard cosmetics pencil sharpener. Hope this helps!
submitted byTarget Beauty Consulting - 7 years agoBrand expertA: I figured it out! No, it doesn't twist. You remove the plastic outer coating covering the inner pigment core using a conventional pencil sharpener like sharpening a traditional eyebrow pencil. I too was looking to twist it out but it isn't mechanical in any way and the butt-end cap is misleading. There could be a smudge tip in there to make use of it! Pretend it is a real wood coated pencil and stick it in a sharpener. Problem solved: new pointy sharp tip, more pigment, less handle.
submitted byCMR - 1 month agoA: Love how they’re not answering this question. People don’t want to know how to sharpen it, they want to know why it doesn’t extend. It runs out too fast and there’s not enough product for the price.

Q: Love the way this pencil goes on but can the tip be extended or is that small point all that is there?
A: Hi Dee! This eye liner does sharpen to a very small point. As you use in between sharpening the point will dull out a bit. We recommend using the Maybelline Expert Tools Dual Sharpener to sharpen. You want to gently turn the pencil 3 or 4 times without applying too much pressure. After sharpening, remove all shavings from the blade edge. The pencil should be sharpened frequently to avoid having to apply pressure while sharpening. Hope this helps!
submitted byTarget Beauty Consulting - 4 years agoBrand expertA: Hi there Dee! The TattooStudio Sharpenable Gel Pencil Longwear Eyeliner does not swivel, its sharpened (see packaging). These new generation gel liners deliver great, long lasting color but they need a sharp blade and gentle touch to sharpen well. Despite the plastic-coated appearance of the eyeliner, it can be sharpened with any makeup sharpener. Don’t try to push the pencil into the sharpener. At the slightest resistance, you’re in far enough. Gently turn and shave off a thin layer to reveal more liner. Pushing the pencil in too far will cause the blade to grab too much of the resin, the pencil won’t sharpen well that way. If its been awhile since you bought a new sharpener, you’ll be surprised the difference a fresh blade can make.

submitted byTarget Beauty Consulting - 6 years agoBrand expertA: I found the best sharpener is the revlon one, the maybelline one oddly doesn’t work well with the material the outer pencil is made of. I was about to stop using this eyeliner that I love so much because sharpening was impossible - revlon makes a sharpener for these pencils that have that harder outside shell of pencil and they sharpen beautifully!! Now I have alllll the colors of this eyeliner!!
