Q: Love the way this pencil goes on but can the tip be extended or is that small point all that is there?

A: Hi there Dee! The TattooStudio Sharpenable Gel Pencil Longwear Eyeliner does not swivel, its sharpened (see packaging). These new generation gel liners deliver great, long lasting color but they need a sharp blade and gentle touch to sharpen well. Despite the plastic-coated appearance of the eyeliner, it can be sharpened with any makeup sharpener. Don’t try to push the pencil into the sharpener. At the slightest resistance, you’re in far enough. Gently turn and shave off a thin layer to reveal more liner. Pushing the pencil in too far will cause the blade to grab too much of the resin, the pencil won’t sharpen well that way. If its been awhile since you bought a new sharpener, you’ll be surprised the difference a fresh blade can make.

To properly use this product, turn the pencil gently in the sharpener 3 or 4 times, being careful not to apply excess pressure. After sharpening, remove all shavings from the blade edge. The pencil should be sharpened frequently so that 3 or 4 gentle turns are sufficient to achieve the desired result. Like everyone else has said, it is IMPOSSIBLE to sharpen. I tried several different brands of sharpeners. Even bought a Maybelline sharpener. None of them work. If they would make this an actual wood pencil, it would be great. But with the plastic casing,nits impossible to sharpen this down without CHUNKS of product flying off. You essentially waste the entire thing. DO NOT buy this unless they fix the issue. Very poor planning.

I have enjoyed the eye liner, but I have tried several high end steel sharpeners and none of them work. The pencil is plastic and just slides within the sharpener. This is very frustrating

This eyeliner is great! I like to wear eyeliner on my top lid only (just above my lashes) and then tight line the upper lid. I usually have an issue with eyeliner smudging or transferring to to the crease of my upper lid. This does not! It stay in place, all day, wonderfully for me. What I don't understand is all the reviews saying that all the product you get is just the tip and that this pencil can't be sharpened. Logically...does it even make sense that an eyeliner would be only what is in the tip?! The answer is no...that is not logical. Second, this pencil can definitely be sharpened and I have sharpened it just fine. I'm guessing because the case of the pencil is/looks like a more plastic type material people look and it and assume it can't be sharpened? This is definitely not the case. Trust me, it sharpens just fine. This will definitely be a repurchase.

Not a good buy. I've had maybe 4 applications and it is all used up. You cannot sharpen the gel pencil. What you see is what you get with that itty bitty bit on the top!

I agree with all the other poor reviews. It works great for a few applications then it’s garbage. It does not twist and does not sharpen. I bought the 2 pack black and a brown and all 3 are gone. Do not waste your money on this. Find something that can actually sharpen and last more than 3 applications.

I agree with all the other low reviews. No one assumes the eyeliner won't roll up for multiple uses...or that a special sharpener can magically release more product. Where is that written on the packaging? And I bought a two-pack. A few uses per pencil & then in the trash. I do not recommend this at all.

There is only one way I found that at least sharpens it to where I can use it. Store pencil in freezer (or at least several hours before sharpening) and use a sharpener for a large eye crayon, not a small one. Perhaps they will redesign this with a self sharpening feature, as I almost got a splinter in my eye from a wood fragment. Also does not wear very long for me; hense, why the name Tattoo? Since when do tattoos smudge and disappear?
