The new trash bags have received significant criticism for their thinness and poor quality compared to the previous up and up brand. Many guests have expressed disappointment, noting that these bags are not suitable for heavy kitchen waste and often require doubling up to prevent tearing. However, some guests appreciate the value for lighter tasks, such as bathroom use or recycling. Overall, the product seems to fall short of expectations for durability and functionality.

If is sad that Target changed these bags. When they were Up & Up brand the bags were strong and I never had any problems with the bags leaking or busting. These bags are so much thinner that I have to use double bags on all my trash cans otherwise I have to clean up cans and/or the garbage because the bags leaked or busted open. PLEASE MAKE YOUR BAGS THICKER! Now I have to find a new 8 gal bag to use. These used to be great price and product, but not any more. The product is now very cheap!
Too thin, bring back the original version

Very thin, similar to the covering for dry cleaning. The up and up 8-gallon trash bags were better quality.

The bags are so thin you put one light-weight item in it, it rips. Apparently these trash bags are only for paper or tissues. They do not hold up and I won't be buying them again.

I buy the 8 gallon bags and have been using the UP (Target) brand for years. They worked great. Used the last one I had and purchased these as they seemed to be the replacement for the UP brand. I just pulled one out and they are super thin. I use these in the kitchen and they will not work. These could only be used for something low maintenance like a residential bathroom. Very low quality.
Waste of money!

ZERO stars. These bags are absolutely a waste of money. The Up and Up bags were great but these are horrible. I don't even know what we'll use them for. I guess I'll go to Amazon to buy for now on.

0 stars, too thin and they rip. Bring back the Up & Up bags! Dealworthy products aren’t a deal when their quality is beyond poor.

Pay close attention to the specs. These are 20.5 x 20 inches and do not fit all 8 gallon cans. Usually, bags sold as 8 gallon size are closer to 22 x 22 inches. Even worse, these are .5 mil, which is very very thin. Better bags are in the range of .6 to .8 mil. I've bought Target store brands in the past, but they were better than this "Dealworthy" brand. Price per bag is good, but I'd rather pay a couple bucks more for better quality.

Got these thinking they would be the same as the up and up brand. The up and up brand fit perfectly in my 7 gallon trash can. These are too small and fall into the trash can which leads me to belief they may not even be 8 gallon as advertised.
Bathroom garbage only, no longer for kitchen

Similar to other reviews, these bags seem thinner now, I liked the Up&Up version. 4 star for bathroom use only. 1 star for kitchen use. I am currently successfully using this thinner bag version in our 8 gallon bathroom garbage but we had previously used the Up&Up for a few years in an 8 gallon kitchen garbage: I wouldn't recommend that now, and I've switched my kitchen garbage to be 13 gallons, so I don't have a recommendation.
No, skip these bags

I have a small kitchen trash bin under the sink and previously bought the Up & Up 8 gallon bags. I hoped these would be as good but should have paid attention to the reviews!!! Very thin, and while I don't have heavy things in the trash even with a light bag I am not confident it won't bust open. Not even worth returning, I am currently double-bagging until I find a decent unscented substitute. The best use for this would be in a bathroom where all of the trash is cotton balls.
