You get what you pay for... I did an unboxing video on youtube. The box bottom had come open, but luckily everything was still there. It took about 30 minutes to put together, but if you have no experience building bikes there will be a couple of errors likely to occur. The brakes of course need alignment, and the crank was stiff. So for another $150 I had the techs at REI go over it and put everything right. REI entry level bike costs $700ish, this Mongoose with free shipping and added labor totals around $430 so I saved a few bucks. I won't be riding often, and if I do I'll buy a higher quality bike. That being said, I took it out on the frozen river, where a trail had been packed in the snow, and the 5 inch wide tires (with some air let out) did just fine. I never got out of first gear so I would like it geared lower so I could spin better, I'm not going anywhere fast anyway. It is heavy but you'd probably spend over a grand to get something lighter and with more gears. So for what I paid , no complaints.
