[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Im big on outdoors and love riding bikes on the trails! I was very surprised by this Switchback Comp from Mongoose. Mongoose is a well known name but I never realized they had such a beast like this and had to give it a try. First off packaging was really good and bike was completely protected. Was a really simple assembly and it was fun to do because you really get to see the design and engineering that was put in it. Tectonic T1 aluminum MTB frame really made this what looks like it should have some weight to it really makes it super light and durable. It was definitely made to be used and pushed to the limit and keep on going! It is really nice all the customizable adjustments you can make to get that perfect fit for anyone who is going to use it. The 2 x 7 drivetrain with Shimano derailleur and Microshift shifters made it really smooth to shift when going down and uphills. The Disc brake was absolutely amazing and gave the smoothest braking power whether it be hard or soft, which gives you maximum control when hitting a last second turn. I am by no means a pro or even hardcore mountain biker but I will say this is a really good starter bike for those who are really trying to upgrade their game from a basic 10-speed. I have throughly enjoyed this Switchback Comp from Mongoose and really would recommend it to anyone who is trying to level up their mountain biking skills!

He has also used it on the road and it’s great for that as well. The gears shift so smooth and this bike is a great quality product that is going to hold up really well. He is 6’2 and the medium works great for him.

It didn't come with an instruction manual (the manual came in the mail separately some time later) so getting it assembled initially took me quite a while because it has a lot of things to tighten that many of the other bikes I've assembled didn't have. I'm so impressed with the brakes! Instead of brake pads that clamp onto the rim, this bike has a rotor and a caliper similar to a car! Oh, and it rides so smoothly down the street! I'm still trying to adjust the brakes so they don't rub occasionally, but I think that's just because an amateur (me) put it together. If that wasn't enough, this bike is BEAUTIFUL! The black with blue highlights are just *chef's kiss* amazing! Makes me look great riding down the trail or the street! I cannot wait to spend my entire summer riding this bike!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been out of biking for a while but this bike made it easy to start back up! The 29 inch was a good size for me (5’8). The components feel sturdy and are good quality. It rides pretty smooth but the brakes were squeking some, so it needed some tuning before riding. The chain came attached already, which made the assembly process easier. I could see the assembly process taking a while, but I was lucky enough to have specialized tools. For the price, I think this is a fair value. I’ll happily continue to explore the trails in my area this spring!

Install the front wheel, the pedals, the seat, and the handlebars. You will need a few tools, but it's very simple, and I did it myself without any issue. This bike is nicer than any other bike I've ridden in the past. It's well constructed, comfortable, and sturdy. It feels like it will last a long time as long as it's maintained. I've hadn't limited usage so far because of the weather. I can't wait for spring to take this on longer rides.

It was super easy to put together. If you need help putting it together there are videos showing step by step how to assemble it. I took it out on the trail for a quick ride and the shocks really make it a smooth ride going over bumps and rocks. The seat is comfortable and the bike is well made. My only complaint is that it does not come with a kick stand. I plan on getting one though.

I have trouble with the height and distance of the handles from the seat. This is better suited for my husband who is 6'2". Overall, a nicely made bike.

We did not receive the book until a week after we received the bike but my husband had no problem putting it together without the onstructions. The gear shifting is very smooth. The bike is solid. If i had to say one thing i didnt like is the narrow seat but thats because i prefer wide seats. The bike is the perfect size for me and my family. We all range from 5'5 to 6 ft.
