[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Assembly was a little frustrating in the beginning, regarding brake lines and confusion in the instructions. After that, assembly was a breeze. Seat is very firm so slightly uncomfortable at times. Performance wise, everything is aces.

Don’t listen to negative reviews. Great quality bike. Assembled in less than 10 min. If you are not handy person stop leaving reviews. Child is 8 years old and loves the bike.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Mongoose Index 1.0 bike goes seamlessly from neighborhood roads to the bike park. It’s a single speed with firm breaks for reliable stopping. The smooth black matte color is very cool. My son says it’s “cookin”. Recommended for youth 48”-54” inches tall. My 49” tall child has room to grow into the bike. Our bike was delivered and packed with exceptional padding. Every component was protected and in perfect condition. Assembly is mostly straightforward with the exception of the third brake cable. It took a while to realize the 3rd brake cable comes out of stem binder bolt. I felt like the instruction manual could be improved with more explicit instructions about this step. Required tools are in the review photo. You’ll save yourself some time picking this up in the store pre-assembled. Overall, the bike is great quality and will provide both of my children with many years of riding.

Packaging wasn’t the best because the box had a hole in it and part of the bike was stuck on the outside but it didn’t affect the bike. Great size for big kids and small adults to ride.

This bike arrived in several pieces and needed to be assembled with a few simple hand tools. The directions were easy to read and understand. They had pictures to follow along with. The whole process took under an hour. This bike can be used for everyday riding or to learn new tricks. The handlebars are made to rotate 360 degrees, so they do not get hung up on the front brake cable. The steel frame is heavy-duty and made to withstand jumps and drops. The 20-inch rims and tires have good traction on all terrains. There are front and back pegs that are used for grinding and allow better control for your tricks. They can be used to slide on rails or ledges with ease. This is a great bike for anyone to perform starter to advanced tricks.

This bike fit him well with room to grow. It was a great price and he really enjoys the extras like the foot pegs and front and rear breaks. The assembly took about 45 minutes because the instructions for the brakes could have been better. All in all we are very happy and my son loves his new bike.

Bought this bike for my 10 year old son and 3 days after I bought it, the right pedal completely broke off and can't go back in. Very cheap materials

Tires go flat for no reason. We got an inner tube for the first one thinking we ran something over . Then the second tire went on it so we returned and got a new one. Tires went flat on the new one too. He has a smaller huffy that tires don’t go flat on. Going to have to return this altogether and get a different brand

Put this bike together for my five year old son today. Within several hours of him riding, the brake lever snapped at the hinge rendering it useless. My son is an excellent bike rider and only dropped it once or twice. I have been a moderately avid bike rider my entire life. No brake lever should break that easily.
