Q: Says it's a "SuperSpeed 4-Port USB-C Hub". But the four sockets all look like USB-A. "four USB 3.0 ports,", can be USB-A or USB-C. ??

It works, but definitely needs to have a 5volt power supply connected as it constantly drops connection. Unfortunately they don't provide any information about what an appropriate power supply is except for 5v. That really doesn't help much as they don't provide the barrel connector size information necessary to order one. How difficult would it have been to provide that information. Monoprice we expect better from you.

This is an interesting product and I actually want to discuss it. From the photos I didn't realize two things about this hub: the cable is fairly long (and permanently attached) to the degree that it isn't exactly a "portable" or device for on the go and also the hub is not large but is much larger than I anticipated. So, it doesn't really go with my laptop, however, I WOULD recommend this for either a Mac Mini on an underdesk shelf or a PC very close to the desk or on the desk. You can definitely use a USB-C port to bring four USB-A ports closer to you (for example, maybe under your monitor) but it's not going to reach deep under a desk and it's going to be ungainly for traveling with. However, it does have uses.
Does the job but I did not rate speed.

Works as expected. Looks good. Provides reliable USB connections for 4 devices (in my case: smart card reader, camera, microphone and wireles mouse). Allows me to plug/unplug one cable instead of four when I remove/replace my laptop from/to my work from home setup. Has pretty blue LED.

I love this hub! I use it on Windows 10, Linux (Ubuntu 20.04) and macOS Big Sur without any issues. I’ve used it for an Asus MB169B+ Displaylink monitor, FTDI USB to Serial adapters, USB2 flash drives, USB3 flash drives and charging an iPhone. The USB cable is log enough that I can place it where needed and the hub feels durable. It also has a 5v barrel connector receptacle if you need to source more power. The adapter isn’t inlcuded though.

My 2019 16" MBP has 4-TBolt 3 ports, but they're all busy supporting my three USB-C RAIDs and power. So, to connect additional USB-A devices, including portable drives and "thumb" drives, this little thingy is outstanding! I was skeptical, but it supports mounting bus-powered drives and gives me useful access to USB devices I need, when I need them, without having to unmount my three USB-C RAIDs or power. I'm glad I added this to my toolkit.

For the price ($8.34 at time of purchase, which was on sale), this is not bad. Note this is USB 3.0; NOT USB 3.1.. Underneath the hood; this is: ID 05e3:0610 Genesys Logic, Inc. 4-port hub I haven't tested the speeds just yet but will do.
