Flimsy cards, don't buy
Educational and my Ms Rachel loving toddler really enjoys playing with it. However, the cards at really flimsy and thin. They rip easily and it’s really hard for my almost 2 year old to put the cards into the slot without bending which causes a lot of frustration and assistance from someone else.

So excited for this but not suitable for special needs, sensory seeking kiddos
I really wanted to love this product, and I’m disappointed because the idea behind it is excellent, especially for children with speech delays or autism. I purchased this Mrs. Rachel Talking Flash Card Reader for my daughter, who is non verbal autistic. She absolutely loves the reader itself. The sounds, words, and engagement are great, and she was immediately drawn to it. From a developmental standpoint, the concept is fantastic and very appealing for kids like mine. Unfortunately, the execution falls short, mainly due to the card quality and design. We haven’t even had this for a full week, and several cards are already destroyed. The cards are extremely flimsy, thin cardstock that bends, creases, and tears easily. Because the cards are hard to insert and remove from the reader, my daughter started using her teeth to pull them out. As expected, that led to torn edges and peeling layers almost immediately. For a product clearly marketed toward toddlers and children with special needs, many of whom explore with their mouths or have limited fine motor control, this feels like a major oversight. I really wish The cards were thicker or laminated There was a hard plastic card option The reader was designed to allow easier insertion and removal without resistance This could have been an amazing, long lasting learning tool, but as it stands, it’s not durable enough for real world use with neurodivergent kids. Fortunately she understood its use almost immediately and started using it to communicate with us. If I had the money to pour into R&D and inventions, I’d create a more durable version myself. I’m hoping I can find something quickly bc I think the idea behind this is amazing. Pros: Engaging audio Mrs. Rachel content is familiar and comforting My child genuinely enjoys using it The word and coordinating picture helps her understand what the word is and represents Cons: Very poor card durability Difficult for little hands to use independently Not designed with special needs accessibility in mind If you have a child who is gentle with toys, this may work fine. But if your child is autistic, sensory seeking, or still uses their mouth to explore, be prepared for the cards to wear out very quickly. I hope Target or the manufacturer considers releasing a more durable version, because the concept itself has so much potential.
