Not for a bed with a recessed mattress.

I'm sure this works fine on most beds, but it didn't work on ours. We have a recessed bed frame and the mattress sits inside the frame, about an inch or two below the top of the frame. So there is no way to get the bed rail under the mattress without lifting the mattress on one side, causing it to tilt on an angle. Had to return the bed rail to the store.
