A: Thank you for your question. Once you unpack the Serta Perfect Sleeper Extra Long Foam Bedrail, it automatically expands to full length—about 56″ × 4.5″—but it cannot be compressed again once expanded.

Slip and slide all around
These slip and slide around like crazy! They do not stay in place or keep the child safe in the bed. Even with a super tight fitted sheet they don’t stay. The “grips” are useless. Save your money and purchase another kind.

This might be my favorite purchase I've made for my kids in a while. In the past we used the metal bedrails when we transitioned our other kids to a twin bed from a crib. Those stink. These foam pads are awesome. Easy to install under the fitted sheet, don't move around, keep her from rolling out, can sit on them when you sit on the edge of the bed, my 2 year old daughter can climb over them into the bed, and they are easily packable if we stay with someone.

Bought this for my 2 years old’s “big girl” bed, seems to work well, less bulky than a typical bed rail, RIDICULOUSLY expensive for what it is. It’s very cheap, shouldn’t cost more than $10 for both of them.

Great for co-sleeping
I purchased these bed bumpers to help create a safe space to co-sleep with my baby. I’m on my third baby and have co-slept with all of my babies and absolutely love it. A relative wished to gift me something, and I requested some bed bumpers, to help create the safest space I could to be able to rest as easy as I can. Once I am done co-sleeping with baby, I can use these for my older children once they graduate to a twin bed. Honestly, even as an adult, I enjoy the uphill appearance on each side of the bed, which makes feel secure and cozy. I imagine for toddler and children, especially active sleepers, that these wouldn’t completely prevent a fall, but would be a help. These fit under my sheets, even though they aren’t “deep” sheets as recommended.

I think that the bumpers will be fine but I would not advise you to order. The box came opened, torn. Don't know if this happened at Serta or UPS but not good. Even the purchase card had already been separated at the perforated bend. I think you should buy from a store that have the item in stock. I would have been embarrassed to even deliver thisn but I don't work for UPS.

Too Squishy to Keep Child in Bed
These bed bumpers are not firm at all and do not keep a child in bed. This is night two using them and our child rolled right off within an hour of falling asleep. They seem to have less rigidity than a Squishmallow. The rubber on the bottom does prevent them from sliding around, which is helpful but the bumpers are too weak to provide any sort of containment during sleep.
