Mesa Sunrise cereal has garnered a mix of enthusiastic praise and disappointment from guests. Many appreciate its unique blend of grains, satisfying crunch, and health benefits, making it a staple for breakfast or snacks. However, recent changes in texture and taste have left some guests longing for the original recipe. Despite these concerns, the cereal remains a popular choice for those seeking a gluten-free, nutritious option that pairs well with fruits and milk alternatives.

Flat tasteless flakes in the new formula
Mesa Sunrise has been the family favorite for years. We thought as others that we got a bad bag and tried again and it was the same. Cheaper ingredients I’m sure but I would rather pay more per bag. Not going to buy it again.

Mesa Sunrise Cereal
This is the first time I have purchased online. The cereal flakes seem thinner now. Not sure if this is the new standard or if I just received a different batch. Still good, but the first time I have experienced this.

New flakes are Flat & Tasteless
Like other reviewers mention- the flat flake version of the cereal is terrible. It is tasteless and the texture is horrible. I am unclear if this is a new recipe or a manufacturing issue. In the past 6 months approximately 25% of the bags I purchased have this variation of the cereal. As someone with celiac, this used to be a tasty, relatively low sugar breakfast option. But will not be purchasing again.

Best gluten free cereal
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been enjoying this cereal with banana, blueberries and strawberries with almond milk every day since this past spring. It is delicious, filling and keeps me satisfied for hours!

Found it!
Closest thing to my favorite childhood cereal that was discontinued - Team Flakes, but is thicker/sturdier and holds up better in milk. I've been looking for a similar cereal for years - very happy!

Change
Have you changed the cereal? Flat flakes, and different taste. I’m disappointed

I love it
I love this cereal. I especially like the fact that the ingredients are much more healthy than supposedly healthy cereals on grocery shelves.

Health Food
Yes we are Senior citizens and discovered MESA SUNRISE cereal at a local store years ago . We were very impressed after reading research about the ingredients . Our health is important . . The taste sold itself . Obviously high quality . The store stopped selling it . The store recently started stocking your HERITAGE FLAKES in boxes . We are glad and will follow your company .

Old Formula changed!!!
I honestly don’t understand why you changed the recipe. This used to be my favorite cereal—healthy, delicious, and one of the few I could trust. Yes, I know it always had corn and corn flour, but now it tastes like that’s all it has. The flavor is completely off, and the texture is weird—like chewing cardboard. I was so disappointed, I couldn’t even finish the box. Straight into the trash. Why mess with something already great? If this was done to cut costs, it shows—and not in a good way. Please bring back the original recipe with the clean, wholesome ingredients that made this cereal worth buying. I’m not spending another dollar on it unless you do.

New thin mesa sunrise flakes are awful
What did you do to the Mesa Sunrise flakes? They are thinner and the taste is off. The mouth feel is awful, like little flat sharp-edged disks that splinter when you bite into them. I have been buying this product for years, and I hope this isn’t the new cheaper normal.

Changes in the cereal
I have been eating this cereal for years and loved it! But the cereal in this last shipment was not like what I have gotten in the past. The taste and texture are both radically different. The taste is off and the texture is mealy. I ordered six bags and will throw them away. Please go back to making it as you did before!!! Thanks!!

Very good
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm not usually a fan of flake cereal but this is very good. It holds its own in milk and isn't too sweet.

Ruined a Great Product
I’ve been eating (and loving) Mesa Sunrise for years, but no more. I don’t know what they did to the flakes or why, but they’ve ruined them. The flakes used to be thick, textured and crunchy. The bag I just bought has flakes that are noticeably thinner with much less crunch. Given that they call this a “best seller” I wonder what possessed them to change. I suspect it’s a case of “shrinkflation” where they found a way to save a few fractions of a penny on every bag. Won’t buy this product again.

Plant based breakfast!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the taste, crunch, and extra nutritional benefits from the various grains and seeds not available in other brands.

Shipping fees for subscribed orders
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Delivery and price were great. Product is excellent as usual. I find it irritating, however, that you offer free shipping for orders over $59.00, but when ordering six earth friendly bags as a subscription the price of the cereal is 50 cents shy of $59, effectively negating the free shipping offer. Seems to me that the subscription for 6 eco bags, even with the subscription discount, should ship free.

Gluten free, organic, non-GMO delicious corn flavor goodness
I was recently diagnosed with Celiac, and was even more bummed to discover one of my favorite, childhood corn snacks, Bugles, contains wheat :( The closest GF sub is Chex corn cereal but they're GMO of course. Well, I think I've found my "better-for-you" crunchy, sweet corn snack!! Delicious, wholesome corn flavor with added ancient grains (=health benefits) and all ORGANIC/non-GMO ingredients--we love that!! I love snacking on the Mesa Sunrise flakes, without milk, for that matter. They are surprisingly not dry and have a good enough, hearty thickness to eat as is! I also appreciate how they're sweetened with cane sugar and not honey/fructose since my stomach doesn't digest those well. Please never change, Mesa Sunrise. You ARE the moment.
