Q: Can this be used for dry burning lips?
submitted by Kaz - 2 months ago
A: Hi there! Neosporin Original First Aid Antibiotic Ointment is not intended for treating chapped lips. However, Neosporin does make a lip protectant called Neosporin Lip Health Overnight Renewal Therapy that can help with dry, chapped lips.

Neosporin Ointment is a must-have for minor cuts, scrapes, and burns, helping to prevent infection and speed up healing. Its triple antibiotic formula—bacitracin, neomycin, and polymyxin B—works together to fight bacteria and reduce the risk of complications. The ointment also creates a protective barrier, keeping wounds moisturized and promoting faster recovery with minimal scarring. It’s great to have on hand in a first-aid kit, travel bag, or medicine cabinet, especially if you’re prone to small injuries or have kids who are always on the go. It’s easy to apply and doesn’t sting like some antiseptics, making it a more comfortable option. While effective, it’s best for short-term use, as prolonged application can lead to antibiotic resistance or skin irritation. If a wound doesn’t show signs of improvement after a few days, it’s worth checking in with a doctor.

Unbelievable that they still haven’t fixed the cap issue. I’ve wasted so much money on this product and can’t even use it when I actually need it. They should seriously consider issuing a recall, otherwise this is defrauding consumers. Irresponsible design.
This tube is impossible to open, don't buy it!!!!

I never had a problem with this product until now. It's so tightly sealed I had to cut an opening at the bottom corner of the tube and I have to put it on a napkin so it won't go all over my dresser. Nothing but a mess now.
Great product, but ...

I have used Neosporin for many years, but this new tube with the wide cap is not working for me. PLEASE go back to the skinny dispenser top.
Great product - you just can’t open it to use it.

I forgot and bought Neosporin, as I forgot I literally need pliers to open it. I didn’t have any so I had to cut bottom off of tube. Seeing all these past comments it doesn’t seem like you’re going to fix that problem. The ointment itself is great. But if you can’t open it What’s the point of buying it.

The cap is somehow attached to the tube so that it is impossible to remove the cap without destroying the tube. For what this costs you would think opening the tube wouldn't be a problem.

Neosporin is a triple active ingredient antibacterial and pain relieving ointment that you can put on small wounds, bug bites, minor burns; anything you want to heal faster, cleaner and in relative comfort. This product also comes in a cream form which is easier to apply without making a mess, but I have discovered that the dog likes to eat that stuff as soon as it's laid down, so ointment form to the rescue. The tube squeezes out as much or as little as you need, and as you can see, this version of Neosporin is quite oily so a little will go a long way.

This is essential in any first aid kit, vehicle, rv, traveling, anywhere. Especially with kids that always getting scrapes and scratches from minor injuries. I also used Neosporin on my daughter’s ears when they were pierced, helped avoid infection big time! There is no fragrance in this, however, be careful when using because it is an antibiotic and can cause allergic reaction to people sensitive to certain antibiotics.

While working with sharp metals I get a lot of small cuts on tips of fingers. Hard place to bandaid. May I suggest Neosporin lined latex gloves. Overnight use or a few hours. 10 bandaids don’t cut it.

A great and effective antibiotic ointment for infections. This doesn’t sting and almost immediately soothes cuts, scrapes, infections, and small injuries. Neosporin works better than any other ointment brand I’ve tried. Definitely worth the money, also for a good amount of product.
