A: Hi James - Thank you for reaching out today. Here is the information you requested. A #6 (9/64 inch) drill bit is recommended for predrilling. However, predrilling isn’t necessary for mounting on drywall and the drywall anchor can be lightly hammered into the wall before using a screw driver to drive the plastic threads into the wall. Gorgeous! But setting it up required planning. It is challenging to remove from the packaging because of the plastic disc/stick mechanism. I put the whole thing flat on the table with just the end hanging over, pressed the flat side of the plastic thing down as far as I could with the stick pointed to the floor, then cut between the stick and the disc with kitchen scissors. It snipped clean off. After past frustrations with the anchor type provided, I drilled a pilot hole with a 3/16 bit and used my own “#8 - #10 x 1in” ribbed plastic anchor. This worked perfectly with the gold screws provided, and the rack is extremely stable.

To save you the hassle, don’t use the included anchors. You’ll need a 3/16” drill bit with #4-6 drywall anchors for the included screws. The anchors they give you will no doubt fall apart. The hook rail ideally needs a 3rd screw in the center to help support the weight, but if you’re using this for light bags or coats, it shouldn’t be a problem. The look is pretty, and I like that the screws are the same material so they blend in.

Threshold did it again! Durable and attractive. We hung this by our front door and I keep my diaper bag on it, along with my daughters preschool bag and my husbands work backpack. It holds it all and has decent space in between the hooks. And it was very easy to install. We used the drywall anchors because of the weight we were anticipating, otherwise I think it would pull out of the wall.

Pretty hooks, horrible packaging. Seriously, NO helpful instructions to remove plastic bolts from packaging??!! Here's a hint: duck when you finally find a pair of scissors strong enough to cut them off from behind. The anchors were also a joke btw.

I love this coat rack and love the beautiful golden color. It was easy to hang on the wall and has held our coats well. My only complaint was that the one we recieved had a small scratch on it, but it wasn't worth returning considering a hung coat would cover the scratch up.
