Nostalgia 2.5-Ounce Kettle Popcorn Maker

Was very excited to get this product as I am an addict for movie-theater style popcorn, but became disappointed very quickly. There are numerous issues with the product design, a majority of which stem from the fact that the unit is just too small overall, standing at roughly 1 and 1/2 feet tall by 9 inches wide. . I'm not massively huge but am above average size for a man. It is difficult to get my hand inside the unit to manipulate the kettle when needed, especially when it's hot and I have to try and avoid touching parts of it. Adding ingredients to the kettle is very awkward as I do not have enough space to tip things in from the side, I have to go from the front. From time to time, the popped corn fails to eject from the kettle, causing enough internal pressure in the kettle that the motor fails to keep turning and the unit makes a loud grinding noise. Then I have to switch it off and try to use a utensil to dig the popped corn out of the kettle as it's all jammed together into one solid mass. . Something else that has now rendered the unit unusable for me, is that a majority of the time the kettle will get stuck and it cannot be tipped by using the handle. I cannot for the life of me figure out what makes the kettle get stuck in the brackets, as there is no visual obstruction. My only guess is that maybe somehow a drop of oil gets out and into the bracket, causing the kettle to get glued in place? Or maybe because the metal in the brackets is so thin, when they heat up they warp just enough to block the free movement of the kettle? Either way, it will get stuck and the kettle cannot be tipped. I had to resort to grabbing the kettle from the bottom to work it loose, but the metal in the brackets is so thin that I've now busted something and the kettle can no longer be tipped at all with the handle. . Final and very trivial comment, there's a protrusion out of the kettle lid on the right side you use to lift it up, and the handle installs on the right side. It seems like it wouldn't have been any effort at all to design the machine to allow the handle to install from either side of the kettle and add a second protrusion to make it easier for left-handed people to work with the unit. . Overall, the unit is cute but not very practical. If you really want kettle-popped corn spend the extra money for a slightly larger model that will be more sturdy.
