Q: Can a nursing mom use this on cracked nipples? Does it need to be wiped off before breast feeding baby?

Our product meets the U.S. EPA permissible pesticide residue levels in lanolin for breast care, as an indication of its robust safety profile. We would still recommend avoiding excess on the surface of the skin while nursing to minimize exposure to the baby.

Rancid
bought two weeks ago. my nurse took one wiff and said it is rancid. Smells like gasoline which means it is not pure lanolin. It must have petroleum in it.

Stinky!
I've used lanolin before and loved how it seals in moisture for hands, but this stuff reeked. It smelled like a barnyard. I tried it thinking maybe it wouldn't smell so bad once it was on, but no, this stuff smelled so strong, I had to scrub my hands for a while to get the scent off. Literally like a sheep. Yes, lanolin is derived from sheep, but doesn't mean I want it to smell like that.

New formulation STINKS
I've bought this for years and years and it's always smelled kind of good. This most recent tub STINKS. It smells so strongly and horribly of gasoline/chemicals i had to try and wash it off.

Works for chapped skin but smells like sheep
I used this on my chapped hands, it works great to seal in moisture & make them soft... That being said, I smell like I've been cuddling sheep in a barn. So if that's not your thing try a lanolin that's more refined.

Got worse
I bought this first over a year ago, and it was amazing - moisturized well and smelled vaguely of sheep. It went out of stock for a while. When it came back into stock a few months ago I bought it again and this new batch smells terrible and strongly of chemicals or gasoline. I think they must be cutting it with petroleum.

Softens very dry feet
Many years ago I got terrible infections because my lymphedema feet got very dry and the skin cracked. I found NOW lanolin on my own and I put it on my feet every night. I haven’t had an infection since then.

Good product
I've been using lanolin blended with coconut oil, hemp oil or some other oil for many years and find it really helps keep my hands softer and free from callouses and cracking. I mix a 50/50 quantity of each in a small container and heat in boiling water until melted then let cool. A jar of lanolin then lasts for a couple of years or more.

Pure Lanolin
Very disappointed I ordered 3 of these lanolin, being advertised as a cream & when I receive them, they NOT cream, but a much thicker sticker substance. I’ve been in bed for 4 mths now with Sciatica, cannot walk, or I would’ve returned them. Decided to keep & see if someone with new babies can use them. You need to correct that. It is not a cream.
