A: No. For safety reasons, today’s ovens—including the YumYum! Real Baking Oven—use a safer heating element instead of a bulb. Because there’s no lightbulb, there isn’t an interior light. This design choice also means parents don’t need to worry about replacing bulbs, making the oven simpler and more convenient to use. We do recommend purchasing YumYum! Baking Mixes as well. They are available at Target.com or in Target stores.

A: You cannot see through the front window. We believe that the YumYum! Oven is the safest and most efficiently designed kid safe oven available. Older toy ovens used lightbulbs as the heat source, which is why they often had windows for viewing and light inside. For safety reasons, today’s ovens—including the YumYum! Real Baking Oven—use a safer heating element instead of a bulb. Because there’s no lightbulb, there isn’t an interior light. This design choice also means parents don’t need to worry about replacing bulbs, making the oven simpler and more convenient to use. A: You can experiment with other mixes, but we’ve only tested the YumYum Oven using the official YumYum mixes, which are specially designed for best results. Other mixes may work differently since we haven’t tested them, so results can vary. The mixes are available on Target.com.

Q: The switch will not stay in the “ON” position. First time use. It is very hard to push to the ON position and immediately descends back to OFF. Any tips before I attempt to return or trash it?

A: We’re sorry for the trouble you’ve had getting your YumYum! Oven to turn on. Please make sure the oven door is completely closed before turning the power switch to the “ON” position. The oven door needs to be closed securely. If it is not, the safety precaution mechanism will not allow the “ON/OFF” switch to be moved to the “ON” position. This safety feature is designed to protect you by preventing access to the hot internal section while the oven is powered. Not good
Cute idea but stick to the Original. The “safety” feature that requires it to stay locked until 25 minutes after baking keeps the cake cooking and burning… there's no way to release it manually to get the cake out. There also isn't a light like the original kind so you could see it baking.

This was my niece’s only request for her birthday. She was so excited to play with it! Come to find out it doesn’t come with any recipes or dessert mixes. As the fabulous auntie I am, I promptly ordered two different kits to be delivered the same week so that she could enjoy the Yum Yum oven ASAP. Much to my surprise (and hers) the darn thing doesn’t even work! It never warmed up. What a waste!

Wouldnt cool down
The oven has a built in safety feature where the oven locks until it cools down. When using our oven for the first time, it wouldn’t cool down and it was in the oven for like 2 hours. I put a fan on it to try to cool it down faster, but it didn’t help. I had to finally force it open with a butter knife. The cake was rock hard and burnt on the bottom. For a 4 year old that already has no patience, this was pretty disappointing. Not to mention the baking mixing are almost impossible to get in stock. I’m going to try and return the oven.

Doesn’t even heat up. The buttons aren’t real. You can’t see while anything is cooking and all the baking stuff you can purchase tastes horrible. Do not waste your money on this! Expensive junk!

Planning to return this oven. What is the sense of having it if you can't find the bake mixes to use with it. A very small varitiy of mixes are offered and they are out of stock everywhere. I've decided to purchase the Easy Bake Oven instead.

Zero stars if I could – great idea, terrible execution
I was excited to buy this for my daughter because I have fond memories of my own Easy-Bake Oven. Unfortunately, this YumYum Real Baking Oven was a complete disappointment. The red indicator light came on, suggesting it heated, but I’m not sure it actually cooked anything. • The door has been jammed shut for over three hours, even though the oven is now cool. • I cannot see inside, so I don’t know if there are cooked cookies or raw dough. Either way, whatever is inside will likely spoil or rot because I can’t remove it. really wanted to like this product, but it’s nothing like the classic oven I grew up with. Definitely returning it. Zero stars if that were an option.
