I didn’t know you were supposed to bite the straw until I read these reviews, but I sure don’t know how to teach my 14 month old to do it. Garbage cups.

The straw is designed to work with a child’s natural drinking motion, most little ones will instinctively place the straw further in their mouth and use the same sucking motion they use with a bottle nipple. This allows the no spill valve on the straw to open and once released, to close preventing spills. We do not recommend biting on the silicone straw. Don't bother!
I wanted to love these cups because of the price, but the straw is difficult for younger babies and toddlers. You need to bite down to get any flow. Terrible design flaw to try and prevent leaking. Also trying to clean the staw is impossible. You can't get the liquid out no mater how you squeeze or disassemble it. I used it once and now it's going in the trash. Save your money and buy something else.

Don't be scared of the bad reviews understand the cup...
These cups are my toddlers favorite and we have a bunch of brands/variety- also my husbands favorite as they just go into the dishwasher (top rack) & easily put back together…also it’s not actually hard to get water out as the other reviews are stating, they are designed to be slightly pinched when drinking - as most toddlers do (aka biting straws) and yes, look at the lids to line up the top to ensure no leak. Also excellent design for beginner grips learning to hold!

Freaking awful cups. There are TERRIBLE! So hard to put together, massive pain in the butt and are also super similar in design to other NUBY brand cups so it’s hard to tell which parts go to which cups! Do not recommend.

We liked these for a bit but they are definitely not super easy to clean. When you take the pieces apart from the lid, it can be rather difficult to put them back together. If you don’t do it correctly, they also leak.

Hard to suck!
Before we even gave it to our 2 year old, my husband and I tested it out and it sucks. Not in the way a straw is supposed to. We both couldn’t get any liquid out, taking it right back to Target.

Bad Reviewers are using cup wrong
The reviews are not accurate they definitely are misusing the cup. The rubber lid is not a perfect circle it’s sort of an oval so if not properly aligned there definitely will be leaks if fact the entire drink will spill all over your baby. I recommend inserting the rubber valve through the top of the cup not underneath while being sure the holes for the air vent to be aligned.
