Q: Has the formula been changed? I noticed that the bottles purchased this year are more watery than in the past. I have been using this serum for more than 10 years. This is the first year I noticed the difference in its consistency.

A: It has to have changed. I bought this a couple weeks ago and it is completely different and doesn’t work near as well. It is runny and is barely a gel form, and it does not moisturize under my eyes where I need it the most before I apply concealer. I don’t know why Olay would change the formula. It’s been working amazingly for 20 + years.

A: Hi Shopping Maven! The Olay Regenerist Fragrance Free Regenerating Serum is more of a gel serum. If your skin is dry- we would recommend using the Olay 7-in-1 Anti Aging Daily Moisturizer to layer on top of it. It will keep your skin hydrated and has a SPF30 for sun protection. Hope this helps!

Target batch is watery
I’m actually kind of confused on how to rate this. I’ve been using this product for years. It’s my go-to moisturizer and my makeup goes on so smoothly afterwards. BUT another reviewer here mentioned how watery her Target order was and I hoped they just got a bad batch. Unfortunately, mine is super watery also. You can actually shake the bottle and hear the difference. I bought this again through another store and it’s perfect. See picture. Target is on the left. Bottles are identical but the product is obviously different.

Watery Oil of Olay-do not purchase
For some reason, the Oil of Olay from my last 2 purchases at Target is very watery. Will not be purchasing from here again. This has never happened when I buy it from any other store or from Amazon, but 2 times in a row now it has been watery from Target.

Disappointing formula change
Have used this product for years. It worked so well with my rosacea sensitive skin. It has always been a thick, gel-like consistency. Purchased a new bottle yesterday. Consistency is very watery and runny. Did some research and have found out they’ve changed the formula. Decided to give it a try, anyway. Cheeks are now on fire and my whole face feels sticky. So disappointed.

I'd probably choose this over food on a desert island
I have super oily skin, psoriasis, and am prone to seb derm if I don’t keep it clean and hydrated. It’s a careful balancing act. I’ve tried literally everything on the market, and this serum is the only thing I’ve found to moisturize my face without irritation, breakouts, or recreating the BP oil spill into my eyeballs. I use a Neutrogena scrub and this twice per day, and my face is clean and comfortable to the point that I don’t think about it (iykyk). I even get COMPLIMENTS on my skin. Target is the only place I can find it lately, which is worrisome. Please don’t discontinue, Olay!

This has been my go to daily product for years. I’m not all that brand loyal, but I’ve found nothing that compares. It’s lightweight, makes my skin look fantastic, and most of dark sports have faded. I’m not even sure that’s advertised, but I had many on my face and they’re gone. I don’t use any other products. I am 56 but my skin looks much younger. I get many compliments. My daughter now uses it as well, and when I put some on my husband occasionally, he doesn’t argue lol. Good stuff!!

This is my all time favorite serum. It’s light and velvety. Goes on smooth and doesn’t leave a tacky feel. It’s so hard to get these days as most places stop carrying it and they raised the price a lot. Olay website doesn’t even carry it anymore. I would very disappointed if they discontinued it everywhere.

In 1996, a family friend told me that she used a drugstore moisturizer- Oil of Olay Regenerist serum (fragrance free). She was in her fifties, wore no makeup, had glowy skin so I bought my first bottle. I have used this serum for over 25 years and people always ask me what products I’m using on my face. It feels like silk when I put it on my skin and it’s absorbed so beautifully - no strange tacky or greasy layer on surface of your skin. My teen son and daughter even have their own bottle because they like how it feels and makes their skin look. At one point, I couldn’t find it in stores so I switched to something else and my skin suffered. I have turned a lot of people on to this product and they are still faithful users. Don’t ever discontinue. I’m in my mid fifties now and still get asked for my ID — thanks Olay.
