A: Well - good news. We designed the OmieBox so that you can remove the seal and hand-wash it and get it to dry separately - which greatly reduces the risk of mold. Additionally we sell extra seals on our website - so you can just replace that one part!

A: Yes. The plastic does touch the food. That said, OmieBox is BPA free and meets all FDA and CPSIA safety requirements. Most importantly, our own kids use them every day!

Q: Is there an integrated cold pack? I don’t understand how it keeps the thermos warm and the rest cold without a cold pack?

A: The plastic that makes up the box is double layered providing insulation to keep cold items cool. However, it is not a bad idea to add a reusable ice stick or two the the sides. For anything that truly needs to stay cold for several hours - like yogurt - the best place is the thermos. Thanks for asking!

Q: What should I do if my thermos lid is stuck?

A: Please don’t try to force it open. This can sometimes happen if food is left in the thermos and it starts to ferment, building up pressure inside. This isn’t unique to OmieBox—it’s true for all thermoses. But trying to force it open can make the lid pop. Just discard this thermos and let us know. We will send you a new thermos unit.

While this is a nice bento box, I don’t find myself using it often due to the bulky sizing. It doesn’t fit nicely within a child’s sized lunch box (which it needs to go so she can pack it with her other stuff to and from the lunch room). The thicker square design makes it too large to zip within. While it does a great job keeping food warm, I find myself reaching for other cheaper options over it just for the design factor.

I l ove this Omiebox insulated lunchbox! I purchased three, and it’s nothing like the other bento boxes out there. The portion sizes are deep, it’s super easy to clean, and even the presentation and packaging felt like I was receiving a gift. It is a little pricey, but definitely worth every penny

Really wanted to love this and thought it was the perfect solution for our lunches. I love the ease it gives a kindergartener when opening and closing this. My son loves hot food and I was excited the thermos fit nicely into the box without needing to purchase a separate thermos that is loose in a lunch sack. We have done the boiling water method and letting it sit at least 10 minutes and then adding the hot food after. My son says his food is ice cold by lunch and it’s not even warm. I tested the theory after a week of complaints and it’s true it does not hold things warm. The directions do say that you want things that are like soup or saucy in the thermos..but I do think that if I filled it with Mac and cheese it should at least be warm at lunch. My second gripe is how hard it is to put the silicone grip back on the thermos after washing. We were late to school fighting to put it on and I wish I could just say whatever get lunch at school today but we don’t have a cafeteria at our school so the lunch gear we have really needs to operate well for us in the morning. We will be trying the thermos funtainer and the Bentgo food jars this weekend before Monday comes around again to ensure my kiddo has a warm lunch next week. I really didn’t want loose items and multiple containers but we may just have to go that route unfortunately.

Dislike this product, been using it for my child’s school lunch and it does not keep food warm/hot or cool. It’s expensive not worth your money ! But to mention it is heavy, I been giving it a chance and it’s just not working out for us.

I purchased the Omie bento box for kids in September 2024, and this was my second one. I really love the concept and the convenience it offers, especially for kids’ lunches. Unfortunately, the first one I had broke at the hinge in the back, and the second one also broke at the latch. While I appreciate the design and functionality, the durability seems to be lacking. I wish it could withstand a bit more wear and tear especially for the price per unit.

I absolutely love this lunchbox! Not only was it a super fun experience to open, and my child felt like it was a gift, but the colors and accessories made it feel like a toy.
