Wow. I didn't read the plot of this book before starting it so I went into it a little blind so to say. I expected it to be a story about a woman who summers in Italy; eating, drinking, visiting and maybe falling in love, but I did not expect everything else. The first few chapters had me crying like a baby. I didn't know what to expect from Katy's trip to Italy, but what transpired was not it. I didn't expect to be so moved by a book, to relate so much to what the author was trying to say. I was so enthralled by the story of Katy discovering Italy, discovering the past version of her mom and discovering herself along the way. The love story of a mother and daughter was so beautiful, but I loved seeing Katy discover her mother as a woman as well, not just a mom. The quote "...just because you become a mother doesn't mean you stop being a woman." resonated with me so very deeply as a mom of two. By the time I finished the book I was a crying mess again, but in the best way. I feel changed by the story and the message that Rebecca Serle managed to write so beautifully and there are several quotes that really stuck with me and got me rethinking my views on life. I know this sounds like a lot for a book about a summer in Italy, believe me I didn't expect it either, but once you read it you'll know exactly what I mean. "We are young and we are old and we are coming and going, all at once." "There is more to life than just continuing to do what we know. What got you here won't get you there." "History, memory is by definition fiction. Once an event is no longer present, but remembered, it is narrative. And we can choose the narratives we tell-about our own lives, our own stories, our own relationships. We can choose the chapters we give meaning." Serle's descriptions of Italy, the food, the wine, the scenery and its history truly made you feel like you were there. I've always wanted to visit Italy, but after reading this I am definitely making it a priority destination in my life! Thank you Atria Books, Simon & Schuster and Rebecca Serle for this copy.

The book can be entertaining and for the not too dedicated reader will make a decent vacation pass-time, but for anyone who loves reading and is looking for a captivating story - This is Not it! The book left more questions than answers (and not in a good way). There were a lot of elements that due to their poor incorporation felt completely unnecessary and sometimes out of place. The novel left me feeling like I read a story of completely unrelated events that happened to a person on a vacation.

This book is different from the ones I normally read ( crime , thriller themes) though I really enjoyed it. I love the family connection and the close bound between mother and daughter, I did cry at the end. And the way the author describes Italy makes me want to visit this exact location and hotel. It’s a very easy read, I read it in 4 days.

A great easy read with a satisfying ending, but also a twist I wasn’t expecting. Finished it in less than 48 hours. I will say, I felt that it was a little slow in the beginning but it definitely picks up and has a great ending.

Katy’s mother, Carol, was everything to her, so she when passes away from cancer, her life comes crashing down. It makes Katy rethink her own marriage on what she wants in life. Katy and Carol were supposed to take a trip to Italy when she recovered from her Cancer, which never happened. So Katy decides to take the trip on her own, which her husband agrees. He feels it will be a trip to help her grieve. Katy doesn’t expect to run into a younger version of her mother in Italy. This brings a little confusion to Katy on why this can be? She hangs out with her and even dines with her. Will this this trip bring clarity to her life that she desperately needs? A unique and entertaining story that will keep you turning the pages to find out Katy’s fate! I loved the ending! I felt that even though this story was a bit unrealistic, it was still an entertaining book that takes you to the Amalfi coast. I could see this book made into a mini-series! This would make a perfect beach read!
